I am new here. I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis 12 years ago. I also have Sjogren's Syndrome (an auto-immune system deficiency) which makes me even more prone to infection. Have been fighting a particular bug for the last 5 months but no antibiotic seems to work (not even Ciprofloxacin). Does anyone else have both of these conditions?

Bronchiectasis
Yes I do, along with RA, Vasculitis, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis and high blood pressure. Also had cancer in 2012/2013, and all that entails. Is the bug you're fighting Pseudomonas? I have that recurring problem. The first time, I was in hospital on IV antibiotics for 14 days. Had it three times up to now. Last year it was joined by pneumonia. Ain't life wonderful.
Hiya PG I haen't seen you for ages. How are you and where have you been hiding? xx
Hi coughalot. I pop in most days to see if there are any posts I might be able to help with. Since my Osteoporosis diagnosis I've been on morphine which makes me too tired to bother really. The vasculitis has become active, but I'm no longer on Methotrexate, so my lungs are being kind to me - fingers crossed!! How's you?
I don't have Sjögren's syndrome yet but could end up with it as I have PsA OA and psoriasis. And I have also a low immune system witch I don't understand as PsA is caused by an overactive immune system also COPD and a small showing od bronchiectasis . But try to live as normal a life as possible. X
Hello Briarowl,
Not sure about that one. I have COPD, osteoporosis, low immunity, pseudomonas among other things. There are lots of lovely people here with bronchiectasis who'll probably be along soon. I just wanted to say welcome.

Yes, poemsgalore1. I am waiting for latest sputum test and to see my consultant. I think iv might be the only solution.
Briarowl A very warm welcome to our community!
I haven’t got Sjogren’s, but I have an autoimmune disease, neutropenia, i.e. low white blood cells – this leaves me open to any bug that cares to pass by me! Hence I do get all sorts, frequently. My body is fighting pneumonia at the moment. But I don’t lose hope, ever! I recommend the same to you! Of course, life gets tough with these – I have bronchiectasis too. But through determination, faith and self-confidence, you can certainly get by as witnessed by our faithful members.
I am 67 at the moment (and growing older by the day) but I did go to the gym for years. I have to slow down a bit because of this pneumonia. I’ve started to play the flute a year and a half ago. That is good for breathing – recommended by some doctors who find that it improves the lungs. There are also Chinese medical Exercises like the 8 pieces of brocade, sort of stretching, bending and sitting in the air! Excellent to do this every morning. We all have to have a passion, which is what keeps us going, and of course, this community is rather fantastic too. Hope you meet all the others! Cheers, Mic
