Thank you for all your comments on me being a bit poorly...feel much better today so either the anti-biotics are super-charged or there was no need to start the course in the first place...
However...Bobby the Border Collie...already suffering from stiff joints and going deaf...had two horrendous seizures yesterday. The first one being the worst...he bit his tongue so there was blood mixed with drool and froth from his mouth...broke a tooth off...and he wet himself. It took him a couple of hours to recover from it...then he had another, but not as long-lasting or as violent as the first.
I Googled and was bemused by the myriad of causes...everything from a brain tumour, either malignant or benign, to kidney disease...with every variation of every disease you can imagine in between, including those you've probably never heard of.
He's certainly suffering the onset of dementia...wanders about aimlessly and doesn't take much interest in anything anymore...he's not keen on going for a walk either, which was something he loved to do.
I personally don't much care for Bobby...never have, even though it was me who took him in...but Himself loves him and he'll find it difficult when Bobby has had enough.
He was gifted as a puppy to a young woman who found caring for just herself and her quite appalling child beyond her capabilities...she turned up on the doorstep one day and asked would I teach...she had an Irish name on him then, which I can't recall...would I ever teach him not to chase cars and tractors because the people in her village were becoming more and more irate at having to dodge him whenever they drove through...
It didn't work...I swear Irish Collies have some bred in instinct...if it moves, bite it.
She came back about eighteen months later...totally enraptured by the newish live-in lover...a control freak through and through...he had his own dogs and didn't want hers...so Bobby...as we'd named him...stayed. That'd be about twelve years ago, more or less.
We'll take him into the vets next week and see what Suzy has to say...she tells it how it is and never minces her words.
He's slept most of today and didn't want his tea...we'll have to wait and see.

glad you are feeling better and sorry to hear about bobby it seems its been one thing after another lately with your pets hope he is ok and recovers well ,good luck for when you go to the vets
no its not easy we understand we had to have our old lab put down last year a day after my 40th birthday he should have gone to the vets on my birthday really but dawn said no , his back legs had got really bad there was several tears shed that day , now honey isn't too good she has good and bad days with her legs , at the old house she spent most of her time laying in our bedroom now at the bungalow she wants to lay in the hall on her own her bed is in our room but she lay on the hard hall floor not sure what that's about but at least here she seems to want to be out side more if only they could talk ,
Wouldn't it be so much easier Malcolm if they could speak to us...perhaps Honey finds the plain floor cooler? Though you'd think she'd prefer her bed if her joints are sore...
It is good you are feeling a bit better Vashti but sorry to hear of Bobby's problems. It is horrible to see any living thing suffer, so I hope he keeps peaceful.take care Margaret x
Good morning vashti,
Very happy to hear you are on the mend now.
I am sorry Bobby is not too good, it does sound as if he is failing. They are so much a part of your every day normal life that you don't give much thought to tomorrows until things start to happen that shouldn't. You've certainly had a time of it recently with your animals
Hi Vashti, glad you are feeling better, I wonder will you take the rest of the antibiotics or not, sometimes it is difficult to decide whether to start them but always best to err on the side of caution.
I am so sorry to hear about Bobby it must have been so upsetting for all of you, I hope he does not have anymore fits before you are able to get to see Suzy.
I will offer up a prayer to ArchAngel Raphael, for some healing and comfort for Bobby, the vets will have some medicine, but angelic comfort will help also. Hope the vet has something good to help Bobby,,,,,ttfn from Karen.
