Does anyone else have pains I their chest & ribs, with COPD? My chest always feels like it's being squeezed. I have no energy what so ever. I see a Pulmonologist & a cardiologist . They don't seem to want to give me anything for pain. I take an ibroprofen almost every day . Any suggestions?

Pain in ribs & chest
Can relate to the pain, my own personal Sumo wrestler sits across my chest constantly and I take 500/30 Cocodamol four times a day (every day) whilst worrying that they codeine is addictive!
I'm with you, suggest a good chat with your GP might help?
May be caused by costochondritis. Costochondritis is the medical term for inflammation of the cartilage that joins your ribs to your breastbone (sternum). I can relate to what you describe as feeling as if your trying to breath while someone is giving you a bear hug. When mines bad I take a bath to relax the muscles.
Hello Sandy,
Sorry I cannot relate to chest and rib pain, but am sure someone on here will be able to help. Good luck to you
Yes go to asda and get the vheap ones 200mg take 3 every 4 hours or when need to that is what i do nomely ok in about 10 min
Try asking your GP for some pain relief gel.
The same for me-- I am tired so much of the time and have some of the pain you're describing and take Ratio- Lenoltec with codeine that is when I have pain enough that I need something. I try to limit it as much as possible. Pain goes with the disease Sandy.
Re above ; I do not need the pain killers, that's just short term ; I want to know 'WHY' and what is actually happening inside ! Has anyone got any good ideas/ methods of controlling and bringing up of stagnant phlegm ?
Ok this sounds weird but here you go: my late father had tuberculosis and was in a sanatorium, yes I know, very Victorian but that was where he was sent. When he was there a Doctor told him to drink boiled lemonade. Apparently this loosens the phlegm. Well he used to swear by it and it did help him to expel phlegm. You put lemonade in a pan and heat until boiling. Let it cool down and drink. Sprite or seven up doesn't work it has to be lemonade. My mum would always give this to us any sign of a cold or cough. I remember it being easier to cough "stuff up" after drinking it. I would also consider cutting down or out mucus forming foods such as dairy. Frankincense essential oil rubbed into your chest every evening, please complete a skin test first, is beneficial for lung conditions.
You can also try the pulmonary exercise videos on YouTube in order to strengthen your lungs and supporting muscles. Hope you feel better soon.
