hello, happy christmas to you all. brrrrrrr it is cold in my cave today, gale force winds howling outside. where has spring gone? even the as yet unopened daffodils appear to have retreated back underground. slightly confused I am, nothing knew there I hear you cry... ........ shut up. ;) Having bronchiectasis and asthma I was told once that this falls under the broader heading of COPD yet lots seem to disagree, what's your opinion please? I'm only curious as I'm writing a recipe for onion soup.................. confused.com hahaha

I have asthma/ COPD.  I think asthma is considered reversible while the catch all word COPD is not.

I think COPD is a general word brought in during the 60s to cover some lung conditions such as emphysema . I find it confusing.

Happy Christmas?  To you too, Davey!      Confused a little, maybe? Join us for Easter, and leave Christmas back in the cold!     Rubyxx 😊

Hi Happy Christmas to you as well ;)

I was originally told that copd is the umbrella term for Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema,  and the reason for this is that although the diseases are slightly different the same treatment is used.    However different countries include other things under it like asthma and bronchiectasis as well.

However I have been told different things at my surgery and so have others.   If doesn't give us much hope if even the professionals can't agree does it?  x

See peege's comment in 'Puzzled' for the BLF answer. Sorry, copy and paste does not seem to be working at the moment.

Happy Christmas - you've still got Easter to look forward to. Best get some bargain Easter Eggs tomorrow though or you might miss out. I love o onion soup. When I trained with orence COPD was a generic term for all conditions which caused obstruction of the airways. Now they like to be note definatve. & I think ( bit risky I know) there are differences in treatment. ☺

COPD is the umbrella term for chronic bronchitis and emphysema it may also include " chronic " asthma.

Asthma is a separate condition as is " brittle " asthma.
