I have just seen a video from the This Morning programme of a new way (for me) of changing a duvet cover. Has anyone seen it or tried it? I don't know how to put the link on my ipad, sorry. I shall give the new method a try, I find it an exhausting job. Iris x

Changing the duvet cover
Oh i know - changing a duvet is breath taking for me - i did see a video by turning inside out and then just shaking it thru but i got over complicated and almost ended up inside the darn thing 😜
I doubt any way is easy when you are short of breath, but Stone has kindly but a good link up for us. Iris x
Hi
This one?
The Russian Hacker
That's a good link,Stone, thanks. It was demonstrating the rolling method as described by Russian hacker, I believe his name was! I have always used the first method, holding the two corners, but find it tiring. Probably no easy answer, but will try the rolling system. Iris x
I am only 4'11" with severe COPD I cannot manage the inside out method cus I'm too short and breathless to lift it and shake it neither could I jump up on the bed - I'd probable fall off the other side even if I could manage to climb up. Neither could I use the roll up method cus I haven't enough floor space and if I got down on the floor I wouldn't be able to get up again!!!! But hey guys n dolls I have found the perfect solution - ask someone else to do it for you hehehehe. I have a lovely son or daughter who will change mine for me. Take care all xx
Stone,
Thank you so much for this. The woman is young and smiling. Good. I ‘m not sure if I could do it in a flash like this. I want a personal demonstration! Fortunately, I know it’s unfair, but my cleaner comes and changes the duvet!
The crazy Russian is a strong soldier, but I do like his trick (partly because I am descended of a Russian father whose father was also an officer for the Tsar!) Perhaps his trick is less tiring, although I could hear him puff away to unroll his “duwey”.
I enjoyed both videos.
You know, I love watching music on videos too, especially the young prodigies. It makes me want to become an elderly prodigy, cough , cough! Ah well, I’ll try my best!
Thank you, Mic
Hi all, I'm afraid I cheat! My husband or one of my daughters always changes the bed.
I never do it! I'm lucky to have them.
I find any way is tiring so I'm happy to let them get on with it. 🌺
I find it much easier to put the cover inside out, then grasp the 2 nearest corners and start shaking it on. Then when nearly on grasp the farthest 2 corners and turn the duvet round and continue shaking. It's easier if you have a cover which opens all the way as some don't and they are awful to get on. I have been doing this for years since a friend showed me. x
The Russian hacker's method gets a big thumbs down from me. Bending down then kneeling down not to mention trying to get up again would leave me fit for A&E. The other method is the one I use but to make Ita bit easier, I put the duvet across the banisters and this makes it easier to balance all the wriggling. But I don't do it very often now and usually leave it to one of the fitter members of the family.
I hate putting the duvet cover on by any method - I'm seriously considering alternatives such as using a sheet beneath the duvet instead, or even doing away with the duvet and having a sheet with heated overblanket on top (unheated during summer of course). Only thing stopping me really is that it doesn't look as nice - which is daft as I'm the only one that sees it anyway lol!
King Size Duvets are a problem but I put the top in first and as I fix it I put a clothes peg on it every few inches, still fiddly but works and stays in place if you want a breather.
King size would definitely floor me. I think there must be a design opportunity here, maybe a duvet that opens on three sides, and duvet goes in like a book to receive its cover, the unfastened side being the top edge. Just a thought, no doubt wouldn't work. Iris x
I bloody hate making beds with a passion can't understand why I survived working in the NHS all them years
I use Russian Hackers method now, but he seemed to make really hard work of it with all the shaking and walking round, and, of course, it did it on a polished floor which is cheating. Lay the inside out duvet on the mattress open end to the foot of the bed, place the duvet on top and roll one layer of the duvet up towards the pillows, then just turn it over and you should find that the duvet is inside the cover - 'simples'. We have a king size bed and bed making exhausts me anyway but I find this method much easier.
Good luck. Take care, Lizzy x
Good tips here. Digressing a little, I have had guests bringing their own linen and blankets rather than have duvets. Unbelievable. I love my duvet, x
