Going through my Pulmonary Rehab we have now touched on breathing exercises.
How many of you do your exercises regularly ?
Do you find them helpful ?

Hi Jackie. I enjoyed PR and use the breathing exercises I was taught when I need them but was never told to do them regularly, just as needed. Maybe it is different for different conditions?
Until I got pneumonia at start of the year I did the exercises we were taught every day and used exercise bike as well, it made a big difference to my ability to do things and I really felt well. Seeing consultant on Thursday and hopefully I can start again.
I also exercise as much as I can but the poster was asking about breathing exercises in particular. Do you do breathing exercises regularly?
I was told to use the "huffing" technique when having difficulty clearing catarrh from my lungs or chest. Usually it helps, but unfortunately it did nothing when I had a dry cough earlier this year.
I did attend PR classes but found at the end I was exhausted for the rest of the day and the next. My consultant said that if I had stairs these were my friends and exercise. He added that if I was able to use the stairs, my normal housework, cooking washing etc as exercise and of course my lovely garden. To be honest I feel better getting on with my daily routine, making the effort to get up and down the stairs as often as I can.
Well, personally I go to the gym three days a week and get all the exercises I need. If not I would walk briskly until breathing becomes deep but not laboured. Good luck, Jackie.
