Exercise Pedals.

Morning all, As I have posted on here before I am on a Pulmonary Rehab course and it is going far far better than I ever thought it would do, just have 3 sessions left from the 12 now. I am looking now to continue with some fitness group afterwards, I am also doing home exercises, got some dumbbells the other day, I am now keen to buy some Exercise Pedals, the ones we use at the PR classes only cost around £20 which seems fine, my problem is should I spend more to get a more sophisticated exerciser, can anyone help ?? I know that's a bit of a silly question as I know they will !!!! Tatters.

Hope that you get on with it and that you get the benefits. As the physio's say, you are never too old to strengthen your muscle, I'm sure it's right, I'm 78 and It's so easy to say 'well that's it I'm finished' then sit in the chair all day !

my wife has one of them think she got on well till I walk through the living room and see was standing on the board on one leg with her arms spread out wobbling I couldn't stop laughing I said what you doing she said im being a tree I said aren't you bit old to be pretending to be a tree and if your a tree it must be blowing a gale , she didn't use it much after that ,

That was very unfair of you,it's good that she was trying to look after herself and you should be encouraging her 😱

morning romfty hope your keeping well , I had 4 mugs of tea this morning but drank 2 with the right hand and 2 with the left so that should count for my weight exercises , see I never forget my exercises in the morning ,

Hi

There is no need to go overboard when buy equipment. Remember you are looking at exercise tolerances rather than exercise activity .

You are not training for the marathon. Just strengthing your muscles to make better use of the available oxygen.

As long as the equipment is good quality it will be fine.

I use exercise bike, dum bells, and a side stepper.

I think they would be fine other members may have other ideas I don't have exercise equipment but try keep active doing the garden and walking the dog , some times these more sophisticated expensive things don't do much more than the cheaper version ,as long as your moving and exercising for example we had dumbbells when I went to rehab but the nurse their said fill a couple of milk bottles up with water will do the same job ,

Hi Tatters

I admire your attitude to keeping fit and strengthening your muscles.

It's Christmas so treat yourself to whatever takes your fancy and gives you the incentive to keep up the good work. Well Done. xx

I myself am a great fan of exercise, l make sure l do it every other day for at least an hour.

My régime is a brisk walk going from shop to shop seeing how many l can visit in the alloted time...l try to increase this every week.

My dumbells are very heavy , full shopping bags...and at this time of year with the Christmas shoppers you get a full body workout swerving around them all !!

I know you may think l am a martyr to my exercise programme but it works for me,...l start PR for the first time next week, l wonder what they will think to my programme !!!!

A Happy Christmas to you

Hi Tatters

That's the best way to start the day...with a smile.

I agree with you Mr M,(for once😳) There are a lot of things that can be used for different excercises that don't cost anything.

I did buy those pedals,& find them excellent, use them when watching TV,the other thing I did buy,was the excercises bike,as my lung function is 16 percent,I find it hard walking in the hot weather,so much easier to pedal away in the airconditioned lounge room😀

If you can manage it use your stairs as a stepper, I use the bottom one and do as many as I can :)
