And It's Only Wednesday...

It's all happening here in our street...some men arrived this morning to put Tom's new slatted shed up...with total disregard to health and safety, they've been shinning up extremely long ladders and man-handling lumps of timber and iron about with careless abandon...

Suppose they think wearing a hard hat and gloves is only for sissies...

More drama over poor Nancy.

She's Wendy's Collie dog and she's a complete dote...but they let her wander about and she gets bored and lonely I suppose. She's been going down to the B&B in the middle of the night and making their so-called guard dog bark...so called because that's how they describe him, but he's as daft as Nancy...just beats his tail on the ground when you speak to him.

Anyway the B&B people have had enough and have protested loudly about Nancy...she's not to darken their door again and that sort of thing.

Honest to god, we'd have her, if we didn't live so close to them...

Then Molly leapt onto the range.

Poor little cat...she leapt off and raced under the bed to lick her sore paws...Himself dragged her out and put her feet under the cold tap...she loves running water so she didn't mind in the slightest and just has one tiny blister to show for her misadventure.

Then our winter hay came...it was the nice man with ginger hair who is about 5ft tall and skinny... but as strong as an ox...he's very good...heaves the great bales off the trailer and pushes them right into the barn for Himself. When I once told the owner of the firm how good his chap was he was amazed...said he thought him a lazy little git and altogether far too fond of the drink...I said he's unfailingly polite and pleasant and perhaps we were talking about two different people...

The pilot light has stopped working on the cooker...a man who knows about such problems is coming out tomorrow to fix it...hopefully.

And my wheelchair is being delivered tomorrow as well...

The kittens need to have their little operations...Mollie is quite blatant you know...she lies back on the settee while Murphy investigates her nether regions...I swear she has an expression of utter bliss on her face.

My youngest granddaughter is fourteen today...her name is Ellora and she's recently been diagnosed as having Aspergers Syndrome. Sweden has excellent services for children like Ellora and she's having a great deal of help...actually her entire family are slightly odd...definitely eccentric...even Connor, who is her big brother, is decidedly peculiar. I have to admit that of the entire extended family, it is those off the wall ones of whom I'm most fond...we may not see each other for years...then when we meet again we fall straight into intense discussions...waving our arms about and talking with our mouths full, we launch into whether or not Genghis Khan was a battle statistician or was Munch bi-polar...

And it's only Wednesday.

Hi, Vashti, I have 2 Grandchildren with Asbergers, Harry is 16 and his Sister, Joy, is 9. They are both fantastic young people, a bit quirky, but that's an endearing trait in them. They get a lot of help from school for Joy, and college for Harry. There was a time when we thought Harry would not even finish secondary school, but he's been accepted at college and is doing well in his media and photography courses, he started in September and got top in his class in the first term. He's grown in to a lovely, considerate polite young man and we are very proud of him.

It sounds like it's all go in your place, I love reading your stories, please keep them coming.

Best wishes,

ChristIne. XXX

Does that mean you and Himself are peculiar as well vashti? :D x

Such a shame Nancy can;t live with you. Being a collie, she might try to round up all the inhabitants of your household. Wendy might move out and then you can have Nancy.

The scaffolding has been taken down at last, the guys wore day go tops, helmets, gloves, fancy beards and special belts. Your Irishmen would have hooted with laughter

Have a lovely week Vashti,

The young fellows had English accents, apparently they earn £1000 a week. The company is called Kier, so I imagine they get plenty of high rise buildings to erect scaffolding on. They were certainly efficient and fast.
