In what way do they help
Thats interesting. I agree. In what way do they help? Also what painkiller do you take?
Rubyxx 😊
Probably the same ones I use...marvellous aren't they. .am on paracetamol 200..is that it?
Hi, do you mind telling us what kind of painkillers you take? Are they ones easily bought in shops, eg paracetamol or stronger ones only obtained by prescription eg tramadol?
Would be interesting to find out, thanks 😀
Paracetamol and tramadol I also have osteoarthritis .Spoke to practice nurse when I went for yearly check up last week she said it was because the pain relief made breathing easier. She advised that I did not take tramadol to often but did not say why. I am aware they are addictive. I try to limit use of tramadol to days when I have a lot to do so I take approx 3 a week .
I was given tramadol when I was in hospital at the beginning of the year. I had a tracheostomy but was feeling my throat sore like I was coming down with a cold or infection. The consultant gave me 1 in the evening & 1 the next morning. All that day I felt I couldn't breathe & only felt better when the dose wore off. Personally I'm not happy to take tramadol but do take paracetamol if i need a painkiller for a cold eg. No side affects from them. Keep well
😀
I don't have trachy now & I don't have osteoarthritis but I do have COPD
I have ostioarthritis and psoriatic arthritis and COPD and I take cocodomal the pain killer dosen't make my breathing easier.
paracetamol for mild pain, paracetamol and codeine moderate pain and. Paramol for bad pain.
Tramadol can cause breathlessness. Never taken it myself for that reason. My partner had some of his painkillers changed to Tramadol and kept fainting so had to come off.
I take Etodolac for osteoarthritic pain. It's a receptor specific NSAID and helps reduce inflammation. I tried withdrawing from it for a month and found my peak flow and FEV both got worse when I wasn't taking it.
It is not unusual for people with severe copd to be prescribed low doses of oramorph. A liquid form of morphine. It slows down the respiratory rate and so releases the gasping for breathe. Making breathing actually easier. Rib
