While out walking last week along the river Severn near Diglis Weir I spotted a Kestrel on a nearby post. I rolled the camera and zoomed in but then he decided to take a closer look at me. .
I was actually looking for kingfishers and Cormorants but came back very happy with my meeting with Kes even though it was over in a flash.
The weather has been very kind to me in the Worcester area so I'm getting in as many walks as possible before I'm forced back indoors on the boring treadmill for winter.
Oh yeh there were a few swans around at the sanctuary so I got the camera out again. someone had just fed them so it was all very quiet and peaceful.
Lovely photos , thanks for sharing them with us. Makes you want to get up & go walking by the river! Enjoy your walks while you can before the winter sets in
Hi jessy, You don't see kestrels that often these days so when it flew down very close to me It made my day, to have the camera running so I could share it made it even more special.
I'll squeeze a few more walks in before those temperatures drop below my safe zone and maybe I'll get the kingfisher next time eh'.
Lovely bird, is that Tony, we have one that comes hovering over the feild, around the back.
Talking of the film, the lad that played the one with Kes, was on Holby City 2 weeks ago. He was instantly recognisable, same little face and big chin dimple, only much older of course.
I have been busy recently Toci with all sorts which has taking its toll a bit but I will always find time for some walks.
My lung function has dropped a little (now 23%) and it is slowing me a little but not enough to stop me venturing out for some exercise and fresh air. I've raised my steroids to 20mg daily which has helped the breathing a little, steroids seem to work well for me with very little side effects apart from a triple chin . Selfie's are a definite no no Ha Ha.
We'll have to synchronise our ill time better before the path disappears below the flood water line. . You'll need some waders then so you can stay on your feet. .
What back to walking on the flat? Getting lazy now it's getting cold? Seriously well done. Having taken delivery of my car I was hoping to take a walk in the woods. But as yet have not had it as Mr Dozy has broken his, and it is for my benefit that he gets to and from work so is using mine. After all that sneering about getting a Ford. So it's me, my legs and scooter. Have a long walk and lunch planned at garden centre tomorrow. Pushing a shopping trolley seems to help but I will not use a rollator. Keep walking and setting that example my hero and inspiration and I will sit on your shoulder and bask in your fitness.
If you can get your surprisingly reliable Ford to Worcester carrying enough oxygen and your scooter we could zip around the 2 mile walk passing all the joggers and ditching those annoying cyclists who zoom past me with inches to spare.
I'll stand on the back and take up the rear gunner position keeping my eye out for speeding cyclists approaching. Once spotted I could release some oil which would send them for a cold bath in the Severn Ha Ha.
Looking forward to some Tokyo drifting on that scooter .
My fitness of course is steroid induced so I may fail a dope test these days but i'll keep the walks going for as long as possible as you know.
Enjoy your day out at the garden centre tomorrow DD, I'm off to the pub with a couple of mates which should be fun. One has COPD and the other suffers with depression so were a right bunch.
Mind you, I'm unwell at the moment anyway (not lung related) so would struggle even if work weren't a problem. I'm so glad you're well enough to be up and out again though 😀 x
Shame you can't make it Fern, I hope whatever it is that's making you unwell isn't to serious and your soon back to better health.
I think my problem was doing to much for my capability which is something I seem to find difficult stopping.
I cut back 3 large bushes on Sunday while the weather was good, it had to be done and I had help from my team family, Sharon and Sophie with clearing up the cuttings and mowing the lawn. It took until now though to recover fully. At least when I look out of the window I don't have to worry about that until next year when it all starts growing again .
Get well soon Fern, speedy Susie needs you fit and well xxx
Oooooh Tony, a magnificent photo of the swans at Worcester....hope you enjoyed your walk and hope to be able to join you on the next one as soon as.......
I am back from wanderings in France / Spain where the weather was great and the walking was challenging.....but I loved the challenges.....
Now I need to work out a fitness programme for the coming winter to keep up the all important physical conditioning!
If you fancy a meetup near your home, coffee, tea ? Happy to share some long/short time on those special Malvern hills.
Hi Polly, hope you enjoyed the pic and vids. I never expected that Kestrel to come and land by my feet when videoing. That's what I enjoy when on my walks, you never know what your going to see.
Gonna do the Worcester river walk again next week so if your acclimatised back to the English weather and fancy a 2 mile stroll on the Severn let me know. Probably Mon/Tues or Wed.
Hi onamission, got to keep walking aven't I, so I can keep the Healthunlockeders entertained with a few pics and vids .
I'm not looking forward to winter as the cold air makes breathing more difficult for me so I'm cramming as many walks in as I can before the weather changes for the worst.
My lungs have lost a few percent this year but all in all I can't complain as I've been pretty free of infections. How's life treating you?
