A lazy day for me...not for Himself though...he used the new gadget to clean out the range and it works very well indeed...then he cleaned the top...I used to black lead the top which brought it up beautifully, but I think he tackled it with a Brillo pad. It looks much better both inside and out and the oven temperature has shot up to 200 f.
I tried to stay in bed but Eilis was being stupid about Murphy...kept breathing down his neck and baring her rotten little teeth...so in the end I gave in and got up to protect him from her attention...Molly just slaps her face and stalks off but Murphy thinks she wants to play...doesn't realise Eilis is wondering what tabby kitten tastes like and could she manage to eat a whole one...
Finished the rest of the throw for the settee this afternoon...on reflection, I ought to have used more of the darker fabrics but it doesn't much matter...can always make another one.
It's been very nippy today...put one of the Halogen heaters in my shed, just to take the chill off...my feets are the problem...if they're cold, the rest of me is colder still.
Himself was getting excited about the full lunar eclipse until I pointed out you can only see it in America...he was quite disappointed.
In case you've wondered about how to pronounce the name Eilis...it's Eyeleesh...

Got home today after helping daughter with her poorly cat. I look after it while she goes to work. The poor thing had its tummy shaved all four paws and its neck down to one shoulder were its feeding tube was. It looks like a badly clipped poodle. Even though all that has happened it still like to try to bite and scratch me. Love its attitude. I am a firm believer in bed socks and warm slippers cannot do with cold feet. ♥♥♥♥
She developed the squits 6 weeks ago and after various tests they found a lump so poor thing was operated on it took 3 hours. But the lump was benign. Millie was found wondering near tower hamlets her mouth was cut after feeding from empty tins. The RSPCA said she was too wild but an animal charity contacted my daughter and Millie arrived. She was attacked my a Tom cat last year result 7 abcesses , she had to have an annal gland removed and half her little bum cheek. To cap that she stopped holding her tail up so that had to be removed all but an inch.. Needless to say my daughter built a catio its 10 feet long 6 feet high with walkways a little house and trees so Millie can go out safely . Millie is still wild ( I have the scars) and will only let my daughter pet her. The vet calls her Beelzebub but she has got him tamed . I love her dearly even though she keeps me in my place as nothing defeats her what a mog♥♥♥
That poor little soul...she really has been through the mill and no mistake...
And now she's landed home and she deserves every bit of the love and care your daughter and you...and the unfortunate vet...give her.
I like the idea of the catio actually...read it all out to Himself in the hope he might do something similar for the kittens...he'll think about it for a while then come up with the idea as though it was his own!
Hello Vashti it has turned colder at night I can feel it in my fingers and toes, I have Raynards not sure of the spelling but I don't seem to have any circulation ,when the temperature drops my hands and feet go numb and cramp painfully out of shape..very weird.
I'm not sure what sort of heater is good and safe and economic to run all night ,my house is so old and cold!
I wish I could have a kitten but the big fella is allergic to cats and horses, I love hearing what your furry friends are getting up to, Max is a very large puppy and he caught a mouse today and played with two of my Grandsons so he's a very happy and tired boy.,😋🌹 huff xxx
Heating is a problem isn't it? We've lived in small houses without any and big houses with efficient oil heating...but trying to find something which is reasonably affordable 'ain't easy...even the range gobbles up turf and coal as though it's going out of fashion...
I'm almost wishing the kittens would stay as kittens...they're so entertaining!
Hi you can buy slippers which you put in the microwave and it heats them up. You can't walk in them though but they are ideal for just sitting. x
I found these after weeks of searching bought them as a cheap and cheerful "stop-gap" but when they came yesterday immediately ordered another pair.
they're advertised as "slipper-mules" but they come right up to back of my ankles and are toastie warm. I didn't want totally flat, nor did I want fuzzy stuff hanging over the sole and soaking up damp like a wick - I need to go outside to get the dog in or put recycling out so these fit the bill. May get posh ones for Christmas, but however expensive they still get shabby, at least mine do, what with cooking splatter and dog's bum plonked on them covered in mud (and worse). Have seen a few more candidates but look like heavy soles so not for me - these are just right, my tootsies are warm for the first time in weeks.
We drum up a lot of business for these people, what with salt lamps and those flutter ball things - we should be getting a cut! Hope your slippers are as comfey as mine.
