I had think quite a bit before I wrote this.

Maybe it was just days before diagnosis.

I was sitting quietly in my garden smoking one after the other...my I noticed my lungs...(.now this funny)...where trying to talk to me... In fact calling out to me to stop..I remember lighting up another one.

Now that's what you can say is mad.

I wish I just made that up..😢

Yes, I majored on images of the damage cigs do to the lungs and body, as I was giving up - it was a powerful motivator. Black lungs, furred up arteries, poisoning gases affecting the blood.

Wedderburn , what you say is true but i wish the story ended there. I agree fear can compel a change of behaviour . The problem we face after quitting is enduring an abstinence which at times may seem unbearable ifwe were heavily addicted psychologically and physically. Thats why its good to find something that deals with the craving. Over decades i tried

Cold turkey , patches ,gum, acupucture and Zyban

what finally helped me stop definitively was the pill champix.

I m a great believer in pharmacalogical remedies as this dealt with and very much removed the actual craving and desire.

What could ever be more ideal?

I really recomend this to anyone who despairs after repeated attempts. (it was, here in France)

quite expensive but so is smoking.

Are you still smoking. ...tell the truth.

I have tried over the years.

The I was able to do was 3 weeks. That 15 years ago.

Without a doubt it's the most powerful addicted that people have world wide. It's taken 50 years for me to stop for ever. Should I be thankful to copd?

I now look at those who grow and sell tobacco as criminals.

Yer I know they too have make a living.

My 6 year son has just used up all the milk while was writing this message. .. and I can't make my second cup of tea.

I m done with it. Not one all this year .

I swear by champix.

Good for you..though I feel shocked that someone other then myself has managed to quit. ..It makes me feel breathless.

in reply to

Sorry sometimes if not most times. ..I just don't think as I should.

What is happening to people directly through tobacco smoking. .. has effected me deeply. .

There so much to think about.

I wish you well.
