The British Lung Foundation is setting up a UK-wide evaluated singing programme; Kidderminster is one of the places that will have a Singing for Lung Health group. Our breathe easy group formed a choir a year ago and now has over 30 members who meet each week . They are not singers as such but it is obvious that they enjoy it and have performed at different venues invited by the NHS to encourage other groups to do the same.
Great news, Ruby - these groups can really help mood as well as lung function.
I'm about to start the Breathe Better Sing Together group at All Saints' Parish Church, Stewart Street, Crewe, Cheshire, from next week: every Wednesday 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm. Cost 50p per session including a cuppa, no registration fee, no experience necessary. Do let me know if you're interested in coming.
Wish we could have one of these choirs in Solihull, West Midlands, we sometimes have a sing-a-long at out Breathe Easy and everyone loves it and realises they can still sing, maybe not in tune but that does not matter.
Saw a choir once at a BLF function they were completely made up of singers with lung conditions, they were wonderful and they got us all singing.
