Hello folks. I'm new here, but not to lung problems. Have had Bronchiectasis since I was 18 (now 65). Managed welli til about 2 years ago. When I sampled the delights of Polymyalgia, Osteoporosis and Gallstones. Turned my life upside down!

Enough negativity! !!!

To have Bronchiectasis for such a long time is a fete in itself and its good for members to see that they can manage it........especially new ones who have just been diagnosed then come on here terrified that their life is ending.

Welcome to the forum a lot of us have that including me and also have COPD which you would think could solve the problem as one is a widening and one a narrowing hahaha x

I'm sure you'll be in contact soon with other bronchiectasis sufferers as well as the rest of us here. I have severe asthma and copd but have M.E too; have also been diagnosed with osteoporosis and more recently diabetes and gallstone problems. Maybe we could chat some time...Lovelight

Hello there and welcome. Another lifelong gobber here. Diagnosed at 3, 65 now. The folks on here are great, whatever they are putting up with. The medical advice, sympathy and advice with our bureaucratic battles, lovely pics of pets and the countryside and silly jokes all help to support our physical and emotional wellbeing. Don't hesitate to ask if you have a problem.

Welcome Amnihami - you will find a lot of support and help on this forum. I had my asthma check this morning and found that the asthma nurse had been down for COPD whereas my diagnosis was bronchiectasis in both lungs! She is going to ask the doctors what I should come under. Had not heard of bronch becoming COPD before!

That doesn't surprise me at all. Saw one of my GPs who is one of the more bronch savvy docs and after our consulation he wanted a sample (would have brought and filled in my own form if I had known) and after all the chat of bronch he put COPD on the MC&S form. I think it is because bronch used to come under the copd umbrella but not now.

I have Broncheichestis and my condition was written down as COPD on my only admission to hospital a few years ago.

My Husband insisted it was taken off my records straight away, asit does make a big diffrence to things such as treatment and Travel insurance.

I am a non smoker and condition was bought on by Low immune system and Multiple a Scelerosis .

Hope this helps, as I know a lot of people feel it comes under the same umbrella as COPD .

Any comments welcome as I sill struggle to understand the condition.

Dear inhaler

Thank you very much for this - I should find ou tomorrow what the asthma nurse was told by the doctor. She has also recommended a different inhaler as my hands are painful with arthritis and I have problems pushing down on the inhaler (Flutiform) to release the dose.

Hi hamnihami and a very warm welcome to you. Anther lifelong bronchi 5 months old - now 67 and like you the last few year have proved more troublesome - asthma, IBS, osteopaenia. Have you had your gall bladder removed h, I had a lap chole a few years ago, so that's one thing less to be bothered by.

Havent had gallbladder out.

seeing my gp to see what can be done. I'd lost nearly 4 stone - had a flare up recently and lost another 6lbs.

The smiley picture was taken before "poorly nannie" as .grandson puts it. He's 5!!

The smile is still around though! !

Hi amnihami, I too have bronchiectasis and other lung problems due to ra. Got worse since on life support in Oct last year. On hols at moment but will possibly starting nebuliser when I get back, as cough is chronic and ab's since Xmas doing no good as have pseudomonas which is resistant to just about everything 😊 little bliters.

Anyway welcome to the post it family 😁
