I actually love the warm weather, although today is going to be hotter than usual so I feel for you. I have the windows open to create a breeze, curtains closed in the rooms the sun in on and keep drinking plenty of water. Wear as little as possible and just try and chill, watch telly or read a book.
I have prepared tonights tea (salmon salad) so all I have to do is put it on the plates later.
I am now going in the garden to sit in the shade and read my Kindle.
Thank you Polly, will open windows...had them closed assumed that I was keeping the heat out!good tip.however will close them overnight for security reasons.again, thanks for reply. What happened to spring and autumn?my favourite seasons....nelliex
Hi if you have a couple of windows open they should create a backdraft through the home which is very cooling.
If you have to go out cover your arms and legs and wear loose baggy clothing that collects breezes ie long skirts and lose tops. Think what nomads wear and take tips from them.
Also drink loads of water as it is possible to become hydrated in the heat. x
My husband also keeps cold wet flannels to hand and uses that to cool his arms and face. The best of luck xxx
Having lived in Africa we used to batten down the hatches on the hot sunny side, windows, shutters. Then open them when the sun had gone round. If the air is hotter outside than the air on the inside then keep all closed and have your fans for air movement. We used to have cool showers several times a day (the water out of the cold tap was Luke warm).
Have a siesta during the hot day and enjoy the cooler evenings.
I love the heat me and never used the air con.
Keep a hand held fan in you pocket and batteries handy. P
A tip I was given today when I was out and having to use my inhaler, a woman stopped and advised me to take a wet flannel in a plastic bag out with me, when I get breathless put the flannel on my chest and rest for a while. Haven't tried it yet but sounds sensible.
Hi Nellie, I find hot weather difficult too, so it,s windows open, fans on & curtain shut. And I have an air con unit in the bedroom. Plenty of drinks, rest, and we don,t walk until mid evening. Oh dear, the rain, damp and copd set of my chest last week, now i seek shade from the sun. No pleasing me is there ? Love Margaret x
