This is the second attempt at this so if the first one is out there somewhere sorry( it seemed to just disappear ) the ongoing saga of my deteriorating eyesight..... Now on third different eye drops because of ocular pressure, probably caused by the Devils smarties (steroids)STarted off on Bimatoprost which seemed to make my breathing worse though not absolutely sure went on to Latanoprost, saw

Optometrist Friday,no change in pressure so now on Ganfort plus pretend tears ( yes really lol). Next appointment six weeks so will update then.Need to get pressure down so they can fix cataracts, trying to reduce smarties too.Not a big T V fan but do like the snooker and a game of poker both of which require good sight so a bit pee-d off at the moment, enjoy reading but it is very tiring it,s a good book but really heavy( it,s a hardback lol ). Hope you,re all happy and as healthy as you can be.Old moaney D. 🙈

I like your comment ( Devils smarties) I've just started to think that way ,at least they get me out the house, they are stingy with the oxy you got to be dying to get it,so steroids are my new drug to get me living again.2 yrs of housebound as I need oxy to get me to the car and back.Devils Smarties will have to do. Whatever the effects.hope your eyes are good soon.x

Hi, know exactly what you are going through as we have been dealing with this for about 10 years now, hubby eventually had the operation to relieve the pressure on his eyes which has worked fine up until now but unfortunately one eye has 'healed', so like you back on the drops. He has also had both his cataracts done. The biggest problem is what drops they can give you as they can have a bad reaction on your chest as we know to our cost when our old hospital ignored the notes about his chest condition. Good luck.

Can I suggest that you try audio books, I know it is not the same as holding a book but needs must when the devil drives...... and I can do other things while listening....even ride my mobility scooter. Keep smiling

Hi Farmer i know exactly where your coming from, waiting to have cataracts done seems we are between the devil and the deep blue sea, on steroids permanently until i get my oxy assessment. Wonder if they just carry on making things worse ie weight gain/ swollen legs/ osteo? I do wish you luck though you need a break! xx

Aah! Steroids!! What an apt name "Devils Smarties" . Also the cause of some of my problems including the Endoscopy. I do hope everything sorts out for you. Eyes are so precious.

When I mentioned to my Doctor that steroids appeared to cause so many other problems. Whilst agreeing, she also pointed out that steroids save lives.

When you put it like that makes it even more difficult for our Doctors.

I wish you well and hope your eyes return to some normality soon

Sorry you are having so many problems FarmerD. Devil's Smarties have a lot to

answer for - I personally think the medics are going the way of antibiotics in the

past by oversubscribing them! Hope you get sorted soon.

Hi there I was on the steriods for more than a year could not get off them and the problems they caused was endless when I cut the dosage could not breath anyway lung specialist put me on uniphyllin to help my breathing and that tablet has made a world of differance to me took my last steriod Friday feeling alive again all side affects disappeared been a god send I've been to hell and back with the steriods so my advice is to anyone whoes been on steriods for a while is try get off then because they cause all sorts of problems

Hi cyberpunk

Im very intested about the medication you mention Uniphyllin. I've been on steroids for 3yrs now & like you have been trying to get off then for a long time, suffering lots of side effects. My illness is lupus with lung fibrosis. Have recently come off mycophenolate due to having so many infections while on then. Would be grateful on any info you may have .

Pleased for you that your steroid free long may it continue .

I there yeah I had a terrible time with the steriods they made my breathing worse couldn't walk from one room to another made my blood sugar go sky high it was up at 28 my eyes kept going blurred how I got the unyphillen I said to the lung specialist I need help the steriods Are making my life a misery so they gave me oxygen and put me on the uniphyllin and within a couple of weeks started feeling better and as I was cutting the steriods down felt fine then got on a low dose and thought my breathing will start getting worse but no it didn't and finally got off the steriods my blood sugar is fine now all my side affects have gone not even had to use my oxygen for the last 3 weeks I thought I was never going to get off the steriods but free of them at last and can get out was stuck in the house for six months without the uniphyllin I would never have got off them hope this helps and you yourself can get off the steriods because there an absolute nightmare good luck

Just to let you know the uniphyllin I take 200mg in the morning and 200mg twelve hours later only side effect is indigestion so take a ranatadine with them for the indigestion without thease tablets would still be on the steriods I wish you good luck in getting off the steriods because they are a nightmare all the best

I managed to get off steroids by using aspirin morning and night. I haven't used my back-up, Salmeterol, for a couple of weeks now, and hardly need the aspirin in this warmer weather, although it is always in my pocket - bit.ly/salamol

p.s. Steroidal Beclomethasone was altering my blood pressure, with serious effects intermittently. It takes a couple of months to fully recover and lose all trace of the sensation that starts up before passing out. Never again.

Oh farmer, I'm so sorry you are having yet more problems. I hope they sort it out for you soon.

As for the reading, I agree with Carole, ebooks are so light and much more comfortable to hold. xx

The latest is I have to have the anti bs even if I don't need them as can't prescribe steroids without them........woooohoooo,I'm back on drugs ,oh I see somone else is on them instead of oxy, I wish they had patient forms to how u enjoyed your app.horriblei was told if I take steroids on their own I could get pneumonia .so I am taking them aswell to be safer. I know steroids are awful things ,I have a chemical imbalance that makes me shout if somone treats men badly. Blame the steroids.i have to start rehab again as my muscles are wasting a way,no exersize ! Good luck let's keep fighting for our rights as human beings.xbonnie
