3 steps forward,10 flaming steps back!As part of the monitoring of my dangerously high blood pressure a blood test shows my cholesterol to be really high, what on earth is going on now ? ( I promise I won,t swear in print but I,m sitting in a fugg of blue air here lol).Saw yet another GP today after the nurse took my BP three times and it,s still very high, they checked it at PR on Monday and ditto. The nurse said I should see a doctor.Lovely young( very, she only looked about 12 ) lady and very thorough. When I told her I had very severe emphysema she said it says here you,ve never smoked ( more blue fugg) I only stopped two years ago AT THE DOCTOR,S SMOKING SESSATION CLINIC,Anyway she checked my height, weight and started talking about my diet.I eat quite healthy stuff, with the occasional treat. The only thing I can think of as being bad is my nightly ( small ) bowl of pistachios, so don,t think it,s my diet.So I,m now on Statins, think I,m trying to catch up on Tam for amount of different pills lol.She wanted me to wear a BP monitor overnight to check it but that involves going to the hospital to get it fitted then back again to have it off ( ooh missus lol ).So I said b_____s I,ll buy my own even though it,s a bad time of the month,I,m broke,it,s only a score .I can,t be bothered with all that other faffing about. So I shall monitor my own bloody pressure lol for a week and see what happens.SEE did,nt swear ( much ) lol.Poor Charlie the cat is coughing and spluttering in the blue fugg here though lol.Rant over I,m off back to bed,see if I can calm down enough to sleep.Night, night lovely people.D.๐Ÿ˜ก

Hi FarmerD,I'm Gold13.So sorry your in bad health all round. We sure can screw ourselves up! Just wondering if you were a motorcycle rider. You look like one.My husband doesn't have any hair on his head. But he has his beard.LOL. When he was in cardiac arrest he heard the Dr. Say cut that beard off.He said ain't no freaking way!! Hope you feel better. Good night. Gold13

Ha ha like it! Think my other half feels the same way now about his beard. Being ex military he wasn't allowed a full beard so had a tache - which was allowed but couldn't reach below the lips! So when he left he decided to grow a beard so shaved the tache off so that it would all grow at once - for about 5 days everyone he met was talking to his upper lip - couldn't take their eyes off it. Told him now he knows how women with large boobs feel!

I don't have large boobs though. Sometimes I wish I were a little bigger but all have their problems. Got to be happy for the way you are.

Oh dear! I can feel your frustration - well done for keeping the air clean! You seem to lurch from one thing to the next. Hopefully they'll get you sorted quickly. Annoying you had to buy your own monitor - would've thought they could loan you one. Suppose it's not a bad thing to check your bp regularly if it tends to be high. Hope you managed to calm down after your post - won't help your BP! Wishing you well really soon, Farmer D.

Hi Farmer D

Sorry to hear your having such a rough time. I gotta say... nobody tells it like you! They really push those cholesterol pills. Some of them have bad side effects. If you don't mind me asking, how high is your B.P? Your probably already on too many pills for it. Moan all you want . Don't blame you. One thing after another. Can't buy a break!!

Hope you get one soon ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Morning Farmer D when I had high cholesterol I could not get it down so I was advised to increase my good cholesterol to combat it I have a good spoonful of flax seed on my cereal ,yuk, and if you eat a few almonds everyday that should help.poor Charlie I hope he has recovered :-)

Hi Farmer just watch the statins they can cause pain in the knees.

You can get a BP machine for around ยฃ20.00 do a 12 hour reading on the hour every hour your GP can then calculate the average you might have white coat syndrome

I get how you feel D! Think most of us do ๐Ÿ˜‰ all

I'm not surprised though. Having to go though it all again & again is really frustrating. More than enough to put some more knotches on your BP

Hi FarmerD......just an idea, does Charlie the cat like being stroked....if he does that can help lower blood pressure. No good if he scratches and yowls though.

Porridge oats are supposed to be good for lowering cholesterol too.

Take care...I noticed you were posting in the middle of the night, I hope you have a restful day instead.

FarmerDโ€ข in reply toknitter

Hi Knitter, unfortunately Charlie is,nt fond of being stroked, she,s so set in her ways ,she,s getting on in years and just likes to sit and watch the world go by.Having read a bit more about steroids,it,s those little blighters that are causing this latest problem so back to square one again.D.

I enjoyed reading your post...I don't know if I was supposed to enjoy it but I did. It made me think of myself and how turning 60 had so many benefits. ! I mean really I had been smoke free for a year by then and was rewarded with COPD /Emphysema with a slight asthma component. Oh and before that I got a diagnosis of hypothyroidism. Lets see oh yes the cholesterol . I will say the only time my B/pis high is when I go to the doctor. They have me stand up and take the reading, Other positions too if that doesn't work. So then I got the blood sugar test and it was pre-diabetes so had to go to a nutrition class.. Of course with all of this came an extra 40 pounds not to mention the 20 pounds that came from menopause. I say that is a fine welcome to happy 60th birthday. Now I will be 65 in three weeks and am hoping the downward slopes halts for at least 25 years! in a quarter of a century I will be ready to meet my maker.

ANYWAY I Enjoyed your post! Thanks
