Have you done your sputum sample.......my consultant drummed it into my head to always do a sample before you start you antibiotics and send it to you doctor x

I'm just recovering from an infection and had 12 really good days. Now the breathing is not good so I started on Pred. today. I think my problem is inflammation at the moment.

Always glad to help on the rare occasions when I feel I know something about the subject!

I've often found in the past that taking the steroids seems to loosen everything up, then the mucus increases and changes colour so I have to start on the abs.

Mandy's advice is spot on - my respiratory nurse has nagged me about sending in a sputum sample before starting the abs. I should have added that to my advice, but as usual I forgot :-( sorry about that! In fact I've just been through all this (so should have remembered!) and am awaiting the results from my recent sample. I've had a couple of infections in the last few months and maybe it's because the abs didn't fully clear the infection, so hopefully this test will tell us what I should be taking and for how long.

Hope you’ve nipped your infection in the bud, and you feel better very soon :-)

I have asthma and my mucus is mostly yellow in the mornings...I asked my Asthma Doctor about it and he told me ..that is normal for asthmatics. I want to get a second advice. I thought the colored mucus is a sign of infection or virus. Comments, answers from experience would be great.
