Hi
My respiratory nurse told me its really important to get as much off the chest as possible so if you can still feel it you should try and clear your chest..
I dont know if you have been to PR and been taught the huff cough but thats the one that usually works for me. Or of course the helpline is always there for us to use if your not sure about anything.
Hope you feel better soon

Thanks. I was diagnosed last November with copd but after a recent xray only found out last week that I have moderate emphysema. Am devastated as my grandfather had it too. The nurse said I can't have pr because I am not severe enough.
Its not up to a nurse. Have a chat with your doctor or consultant as you will need a referral to attend PR and you will get a lot out of it.

Thanks for that. Our gp will say the same thing. I had to demand an X ray.
Oh dear thats not good. If your doctor isnt taking good care of you perhaps you could think of changing surgeries but give them a chance and ask about it and perhaps you need a referral to a consultant too.
There is a lot they can do to help make life easier honey i know its all scarey but most things are when your unsure of things but your doctor is there to help so please ask.
The BLF nurses are really good and are there to chat with you for some support im sure it would help if you called them.

Thank you soo much. Feel like a hypochondriac at the moment. Just trying to come to terms with it tbh and the medications just confuse me. So grateful I found this forum xx
We have all been in that position so dont be too hard on yourself x
I was told same by GP, not bad enough etc. so I said I MUST exercise with copd and WANT to, but need their expertise to teach how to do it right with my coexisting conditions, GP was reluctant but had no argument then..
