paulinepm cant help you on this one mate perhaps seeing as you came up all clear on the sleep apnea they are determined to sell you something I needed mine so I had no problem but I had to part with money for the machine and then for the mask which I thought should have been sold together anyway I have felt better since having it so I cant complain mate except when I think im getting ripped off ;;;; I would ask them what they are looking for matey before you part with any money that's if there is money involved and mine was done in Australia not sure whether you are in the uk or not mate peter jones queensland Australia psp sufferer

Hello

Don t worry its just more efficient

testing to measure breathing in sleep An apnea can be tiny departures ,awakenings ,from

sleep if they are small you may not

notice them its like shallow sleep

but its not very restorative as sleep

All that gear is not that comfortable if it troubles you they

may give you a sedative.

Its best to know as apnoeas are tiring fof the heart.

They would be looking at what is happening when you are in a deep sleep in your dreaming time as that is when you are in your deepest sleep. That is what I was told .

Hi Pauline, I suppose it's good news that you don't have sleep apneoa and also that they are investigating further to try identify your medical symptoms. I see that you live in the uk so hopefully this shouldn't be a costly experience for you (which was Peter's concern). Take care. June

It just monitors your sleep pattern, it's a better test to find out if you do have sleep apnoea. Don't worry if you have the hospital will supply you with a cpap machine, they are worn just when sleeping to keep airways open.

I know you don't have sleep apnea, but I did until I had both my tonsils out. This was in 2009 when i was 56, it stopped my sleep apnea in a flash. Any how good luck with your test Maurice xx

Have had a similar test but was told that it was minor and could be treated by losing weight. I believe the importance is to check the number of occurrences through the night. If they are less than 11 (I believe) you will not be medicated.

My husband had this a few years ago. It may monitors your heart rate whilst you sleep. The problem he had was he could sleep with it on so it was pointless! I still have to wake him umpteen times during the night because he stops breathing in a deep sleep, but according to their test it doesn't happen. Good luck!

I have had 2 of the wrist finger tests but they did not find enough to warrant any action but they did say it does not mean I do not have it ? I seem to have waves of waking gasping and then it can be clear for some time. My wife says I go into a very deep sleep with shallow breathing and she thinks I have stopped breathing. But I still wake in the night 5 to 8 times a night ?

They've done tests on me and I used to have a CPAP machine but after the latest test they decided I didn't need it because it leaked every night. I am now back to sleeping for very long periods and with fits in the night, possibly the cause of the leaks it's back to the same old routine, many hours of sleep with few waking hours

Thank you everyone :-) The reason why a 2nd test was that after a wrist overnight monitor disturbance in oxygen levels at sometime during sleep although during the day oxygen levels are very high and still can't breath properly and feeling of suffocation in certain conditions along with erratic breathing at times ( I don't panic easily)

Consultant is looking at "breathing machanic disorder " and is sending me to physio can't seem to get much info on this or what they're looking for with overnight chest monitor.... Would really appreciate anyfeed, thanks x
