Hey everyone

Any ideas on unblocking my ears? Did the Q -tip thing to far in my ear and made things worse! Now I got all this popping going on. Any good remedies would be appreciated.

Thanks

Rubyxx 😊

Read your Web link. Very interesting. I have lot Of Trouble with Popping ears.Seems to be an ongoing problem with me. It usually is after I use q-tips. You would think I would learn!

Thanks for your advice

☺☺xx

Hi Ruby, a few drops of olive oil will help, not cotton buds! Or see your GP and get them syringed, i think that would do the trick. Take care Xx

Thanks for your reply. Have a good weekend. Any big plans?

Ruby I was told never put anything in your ear smaller than your elbow !!!!!!

Sheila51 is right. Olive oil/ syringe see doctor. Hope it clears up soon. Xx

Never put anything smaller than your elbow down your ear Ruby, olive oil will soften the wax. You can buy olive oil droppers from a chemist, or droppers with olive oil already in. You can feel deaf until they do the trick. If it doesn't maybe ask your GP to check, in case it may be excema as the case with me and two daughters. I have had my ears syringed in the past but not sure it is recommended these days. Good luck, Joyce

My old doctors used to say anything larger than your elbow is fine to poke about. maybe a trip to the chemist as I know there are loads of wax treatments.

I use almond oil with the help of a cotton bud, but not too far in. Chris x

Sorry you're having this Ruby, what a pain! Hope some of these suggestions help.

Love to you, :) :) xxx

Also there is a treatment - hopi ear candles sounds ridiculous but that seems to help. You can buy them on the internet and do it yourself but it is definitely a fire hazard! Not be tackled solo. Some beauty salons offer it as a treatment. Have you tried steaming? My ears get blocked when my sinuses are blocked? Please go to the doctor and ask his advise, lots of love TAD xxx

Warm the olive oil first,ie heat the spoon with hot water, then when you put cotton wool in make sure you put olive oil on the cotton wool, otherwise as the nurse told me dry cotton wool will absorb what you put in your ear,I did this for 2 weeks then had ear syringes, job done.

Hi Ruby. hubby has lots of trouble with wax we have found Otex is the best, it takes a while but loosens it all up then get the ears syringed.

ooo, naughty Ruby, no ear buddies.

It might be connected to sinuses after your recent virus? Peege

Dear Ruby,

I bought myself some rubber syringe. Like others said, best thing to do is to put olive oil for a week to treat one ear (while the other hears for two!). Pour some tepid water in the sink and syringe with the rubber syringe. The wax usually comes out in bits and it’s a great relief.

Anirse was horrified that I did this on my own. But I’ve done it for 60 years and am here 9or hear) to tell the tale!

Hope this helps, Mic

Great Flibberti, I didn't know. My syringe comes from the continent where this is common practice.

Thank you for telling me this, Mic

Hi, Ruby

I'm sure I'm much too late with this, but did you try holding your nose and sneezing as hard as you can? This can "equalise" the pressure on your inner ear to that outside. The airline crews (and scuba divers) call it 'popping your ears'. Don't worry, you can't burst the eardrum, doing this.

Take care,

Dec
