Hi everyone
Hope everyone is well. I see it looks like Etch and myself will be looking at new laptops. Good question. What kind do you have and do you recommend it?
Have a great day or rather evening to you guys.

So many too choose from ! It depends on you're own individual needs as what to buy.
What is wrong with your old one as I repair laptops for a hobby ?
Hi
Buy the best you can afford, multimedia offer the best around useage.
Far to often people say they only what it for a simple purpose and then get frustrated because they can not perform major task.
Hi Ruby if you can afford get a Apple Mac I bought. Ā£500 windows 8 load of rubbish cost me Ā£300 in repairs Currys wouldn't help so I sold it for Ā£200 and got my Apple never looked back LOVE it x
I agree with victoriablue - Mac is the way to go every time! They may be more expensive to buy but they last longer and are easy to use.
I have ipad 2 ,but recommend I-pad air or mini if for photos,ipad2 abit heavy to hold in one hand for selfies.
Can you post pictures on here?

Ruby I take pictures with my iPad so how can I photograph it??eeerrrr.!
I'm saying can you put pictures you take with your I pad on this site?
Apple all the way.
Hi I have an Acer and paid Ā£329 for it a couple of years ago. I was told it was one of the best makes by more knowledgeable friends and have no complaints.
Well I do have 1 bit of a moan - because they were originally built as touch screen (though mines not) they are very sensitive and will sometimes go onto a screen even if I am just hovering over it. x
Asus or Toshiba for me Ruby xxx
Got a Samsung for detailed work or anything in the way of documents which need to be kept but have an iPad for general use. If I could only have one of them, I'd go for the iPad. It's good for performance and easy to carry around.

Apple MacBook. I just got a new one this week after 8 years of using my old one. Nothing actually wrong with my old one, just needed more power and newer software but couldn't upgrade it anymore.
Although Apple are more expensive they are well worth it. Easy to use, no viruses!!! Brilliant machines! I may be biased, I have an iPhone and iPad too, all of them are great.
Hope this helps.

I have a Sony Vaio lap top although I very rarely use it now . I use it mainly as storage. It was the best I could get at the time and I carted it around for work. It was one of the few I could find with a white keyboard (I cannot abide black stuff around).
I use both an iPad, a second hand one from my stepdaughter and a Samsung Nexus 7, a gift from my son, a mini Android tablet it fits in my handbag and I take it everywhere with me. It is brilliant. . I keep all my books on that one so I can read wherever I am. My mobile phone is also Samsung and Android so they are compatible
You can pick up free wifi all over Europe.
On reflection, I think I rarely use the laptop because it's less portable, the battery only lasted 18 months so has to be plugged in.
I will get a new one in the future but like you, What to buy! I'll probably stick with a small Samsung using Android.
Remember with a lap top it comes with a keyboard whereas tablets are touch screen (although you can also buy seperate keyboards, also stands to hold them upright on a table).
Android or Apple, that is the question! I like Android.
If you can afford it I would recommend an Apple MacBook 13.3-inch Laptop. A BIG benefit = NO WINDOWS 8 Good hunting Rubyred !
Acer great spec good price awful repair time.
Toshiba had a bad few years of breaking down just after warranty
Fugitsu basic but good
HP great for parts and repairs
ASUS good plodding machine
Lenova (IBM) great working machine but often a little basic
MAC overpriced but good service from Apple and easy to use sometimes difficult to get generic units to work on them
I use a Fujitsu Semens
Its about 8 years old. Bits have stopped working over the years but its easy to repair and plods along forever.
I also use an Advent netbook. Cost me about Ā£35 and is handy for using in bed when I am ill and can't get around very well. Also a phablet ( A tablet which takes a sim card ) for train journies and such. Quite a lot of the time I use my smartphone which is what I am using to post this reply
Thanks everyone
quite a variety of answers. Apple seems to be a little more popular. Haven't looked at the prices yet. I guess its much more expensive. Will check it out.
Thanks again

Hi Ruby Well it looks like I am going for the Apple...it is popular so I'm hoping it will work better than the Samsung I have.. I'm on a roll today It's only crashed twice...
Now I'm off to bed before I jinx it. lol
So wish you goodnight.

Sounds like a wise decision Ruby I used ordinary windows on my windows 8 and just couldn't get on with it at all something to do with apps but the one i had was a HP and wouldn't load ebay up or any catalogue and i like looking lol. hope you get what you need and want. Rose x
like some other members have said apple is the best, yes a bit more expensive, but in the long run well worth it, have a look at the john lewis website, they seem to be offering a 3 year garantee at the moment, and have found that most branches will give you a loan machine if yours breaks down. their customer service is second to none.
