How much more can a body take I am on far to many P/Killlers 2 Morphine based, Dihydrocodeine ect but at this stage I have no options the sleeping tablets and anti-depressant are having no effect either, The next move is increasing my Steroid level yet again they don't like you being on a higher level for any length of time, But when I phone or contact them during this really bad episode all I get is Increase them It will be for short period. And my answer will be you said that the last time. matt

Hi you sound very fed up,I can't blame you, it does get to you after a while, but those are just the down days with cold weather, we find it hard to get out because its so cold, things will change, when your down the only way is up and we do that at a slow place but we are stronger then most because we have to be, come love look that world in the eye and say I'm not down yet im stronger because you can do this and feel a little better, I do know what it's like from firsthand so I do understand, I wish you the very best, x

Have you looked at joining the Pain Concern community Matt? Maybe someone there will be able to help you with some tips on coping. Rib

Hi Matt,

Rib has taken the words right out of my mouth. I can vouch for the Pain Concern forum under the HU umbrella. Although the cause of my pain and is yours is probably very different I too, unfortunately, am very familiar with extreme pain, and have felt helpless many times. I previously mentioned to you that I have been helped via the pain clinic, but the forum which Rib has mentioned is very supportive. There is a helpline you can phone, and you can be sent all sorts of information, tips etc. They also do podcasts and can provide you with a list of when they are aired or where you can catch up with them. They also sent me a disc to listen to.

I do feel for you in your position, and hope that you can get more help soon. It is very exhausting to have to cope with severe/extreme pain all the time.

Hope things improve for you,

take care,

hugs from Huggs xxx :)

I wish I could help with a great nugget of advice but I am sorry I cannot. Went 4 days straight without sleep and it gets the mind in some strange places and the drugs do not seem to help. I was put on a chair to have some fluid taken off my lungs and they put me on a chair straddled the wrong way round with pillows with my hands cuddling the chair. Once they finished I found that I was the most comfortable I had been for days and asked If I could be left to see if I could sleep! It was the Nurse that convince the doctor and promised to keep an eye on me. I slept for 3 hours and my head was so much clearer!

I hope you get it sorted soon? My thoughts are with you.

Be well

I am sorry you are suffering so much Matt. It must be awful and I feel for you. I think Hugg's advice is great and I hope you find some help. x

Hi Matt sorry your having such a rough time at the mo. I can offer no advice but empathise with the lack of sleep, it sends our heads to places we would rather not go. The good news is that this to shall pass. Roll on spring, when we can get some fresh air into our diseased lungs! Take care. Love Kin Xx

Hi Mattcass, I always have problems sleeping when on steroids. They make your mind race and even though I feel tired out I cannot sleep until I stop the steroids. I suppose it depends on how much you need the steroids. Can't you make an appointment to discuss this with your GP? Good luck and take care Maximonkey

och matt your really having a rough time, like the others i wish i could wave a magic wand for you. as i said before i sympathise with you as like many on here ,believe me i know well what its like.

i cant imagine the steroids helping you to sleep, they have the opposite effect, but if you need them,,, you need them.

i got that fed up with pain and not sleeping for days on end, i finished up, loosing the plot with myself, and took double oramorph, 15 ml,[i also have fentanyl pain patches on ] three dihydrocodeine and two diazepam , although i wouldn't advocate that, it did knock me out and i managed a sleep of sorts

i understand how this effects you, the mind becomes tired and your thinking is often not as straight , as this happened to me. i really feel for you matt , and pray that things improve, they will, but its hard to think that at the time.

i had a bad night last night, thought my catheter had burst in the bed,,,, i had , in fact, fell asleep holding a bottle of drinking water :) so up trying to change bed etc, i'm very tired now, however it was my own stupid fault.

i really do hope things get better for you matt, maybe best just keeping on at the doctor, although they don't bother so much with the likes of us, not sleeping, but worth a try anyway

lets hope pray things improve

a tired jimmy :) :)

Oh Matt, I'd like so much to help you. Her is me with my little pain on the chest. but you with morphine! I wish I could put some warm hand to soothe your body. I heard once of quantum healing, which is just what I talked about, but I'm not sure if my energy can work at a distance. I am with you as I write this

Dearest Matt, I have no magic wand, but I do understand your pain. Its my husband I am no here for IPF he has, but I have Post Polio muscle atrophy and my pain is terrible at times, long nights without sleep. I find the TV or radio and concentrate on a programme, I mean really concentrate. I have one 2 hr Last of the Summer Wine called "Getting Sam Home" I replay it night after night. I am on Morphine, Gabapentin, D,Codene etc. and Sleeping Pills. I find I end up missing long bits of it, must have dozed off!! I don't know if it will help, but it stops the mind going to places you do not want to go. I send you love and warm hugs and loads of love.xxx
