Oh great! I think I am addicted to them anyway so back to the drawing board.

E-cigs are still much better than smoking!

I don't think you can say that with any confidence as they have not been properly tested and may well prove to have long term damaging properties. The only safe cigarette is NO cigarette.

Of course it is better not to smoke at all. But if someone is trying to give up smoking and needs the help of an e-cig to give up then this must be better than carrying on smoking unless you are saying that cigarettes are 'healthier' than e-cigs? In an ideal world everyone would be able to stop smoking without help, but we don't live in an ideal world do we? It's called damage limitation.

Makes interesting reading but the e-cigs are saving millions from the harmful effects of the smoke and all the chemicals cigarette manufacturers add to keep smokers hooked. I have always held the feeling that if Governments really wanted everyone to quit, they don't have to tax them beyond any ones pockets or anything else, they just have to force the cigarette manufacturers to stop adding additives that make them so addictive, the additives that make them burn continually, the additives that makes the virgin smoke such a strong trigger....in fact all the additives.

On the subject of research, that really gets me going. In the 80's a product came onto the market to reduce smokers. It was passed by all the USA authorities, all the UK authorities....in fact every major country hailed it as a massive breakthrough. It sponsored sporting events through out the world and was a massive success.....only to have the plug pulled on it five years later as a massive cancer risk....the product Skoal Bandits....little sachets of baccy that the user was encouraged to hold in the corner of the mouth and a small amount of nicotine was released to hold the cravings. 100% safe we were all told. The number of folk who got cancer of the jaw, tongue, gut etc was massive. How much of Skoal's profits went into sorting the immense problems...zero, diddly squat, nothing, zilch.....

Pharmasutical firms spend millions every year on research but the results they want is not a cure....it's a control chemical...a pill, lotion, injection anything that will generate an income for years to come. If they cured a condition, no one would need that drug again.

I have been vaping for 3 years and have not has any'side effects' ' or increase in infections of any sort.

I take reports like this with a pinch of salt, I don't think any serious studies have been conducted on Vapers anywhere in the world.

I will not stop vaping as I love it , I feel 100% better in health and temper these past 3 years, aside from the COPD which came about from smoking cigarettes for 50years.

Cigarettes would have killed me , Vaping will not!

"The main ingredients of e-liquids are usually a mix of propylene glycol (PG), glycerin (G), and/or polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG400), sometimes with differing levels of alcohol mixed with concentrated or extracted flavourings; and optionally, a variable concentration of tobacco-derived nicotine"

. these "deadly cell killing" (irony) liquids are usually used in medicinal products bought over the counter mostly for coughs and colds... so mind out for the traditional cough medicine of hot honey lemon and glycerin.

LoL.

funny in that report it, was not mentioned once what this deadly liquid was.

Quote from Wikpedia so not totaly trustworthy but good enough for me

I have never used them and have no intention to use them so certainly cannot offer any opinions. I simply saw the article and thought I would post it for others to read and decide for themselves.

Well one thing's for sure, your risk of viral infections, chest infections, cancer, COPD etc, is far higher from smoking cigarettes. Michael Mosely recently featured e-ciggs in his series 'Trust me I'm a Doctor'. He was initially against e-ciggs, but after research and speaking to experts changed his opinion. The risks from smoking e-ciggs are far less than smoking and many people have stopped smoking because of them. You may well be able to google the programme on youtube.
