Woke up on Boxing Day with head cold; today feeling progressively worse! Is it okay to take double the antibiotic dose on the first day? Have felt so well for months that I am taking quite badly to feeling unwell again!

Maybe not such a good idea June unless you get advice from a medic. A double dose may be too strong and react with your other medicines. maybe call 111 for advice? They are pretty good.

Hope someone else answers with better advice. Take care.

Sara.

dunno regarding the antibiotics doubling. Are you using some home remedies to combat the headcold? I use garlic tea, nasal rinse and Vit C and worked a treat thus far. Best wishes for a speedy recoveryxxx

im not sure its a wise thing to take double doze of antibiotics ?

but i have squeezed my 3 antibiotics in the latter part of the day when first prescribed .

maybe better just taking panadol or lemsip along with the antibiotics.

its a rotten feeling june, i hope you recover quickly,

love jimmy xxx :)

Hi do you think you have a chest infection yet? If so what does your doctor normally prescribe? I am usually told to take 2 the first time then go down to the prescribed dose. Hope you are feeling better soon. x

If you take double now you'll be short the other end. Just a thought.

I know it's most probably wrong but I have often taken a double dose for my first dose . Mostly I have to admit in the 'old days' when docs would not give you ab's unless they saw you and gave you a prescription so the infection was advanced by the time you got the ab's. Never did me any harm & did get things working quicker. Nowadays as I have standby ab 's there is no need to do that unless I could not take them straight away ( I was away from home)
