Not quite Dickens.

The only exerciseI can manage these days, and it

sure beats running on the spot. :)

Christmas is coming and we want to enjoy it somehow

not so easy with what we're all suffering right now.

We compose ourselves, cross our legs and try not to wee

Saying,”feeling fine," say that a lot these days don't we?.

main thing for us now is having peace of mind

being able to sit comfortable and keeping a clean behind.

okay we have bad nights and some rough days too

when our gums are so tender and it's difficult to chew.

You get sores from the cannula on the tip of your nose

while at the same it's streaming like a garden hose.

A cough and a spit ......... oh what the hell

now the oxygen tube is acting contrary as well

Tablets, inhalers and steroids all taken on time

helping us to exercise and the stairs to climb.

Now I need a rest and a pot of fresh tea

as I look at the lights on our new Christmas tree.

Thoughts, naughty and cheerful but still rather nice,

of bathtubs of gin mixed with tonic and ice.

we limit ourselves to what our bodies can take

and not have to live with meals of bran or dietary cake.

There are slight cramps and a pain under my ribs

born of guilty pleasures and untold fibs

not allowed this, not allowed that, all so unfair

when all we ask is to breathe a little more air.

If we are lucky, behave and stay very good

I know each and all of us here will be understood.

Here we have each other and help the best way we can.

something we’ve managed since this board first began.

So here we are ready to enjoy this our special day

To accept all the loving and gifts coming our way

and to those that are surviving a difficult haul

Merry Christmas dear friends and God bless you all.

Oh, that was lovely eightyplus. your so talented !!!

I used to love a couple of gin and orange, until I had too many and bawled my eyes out one night for .absolutely no reason. You'd have thought someone had died, the way I was sobbing. I just couldn't stop. I was so embarrassed after, that I never touched it again.

Have a lovely Xmas and maybe a tot or two of that gin you mentioned. xxx

Thank you, I love it! and wishing you a very Happy Christmas too!

Brilliant script and just what I needed this morning looking at the miserable hung-over faces around me!

that had much to relate to. Just been skyping my family in Sydney and trying not to cough in front of the camera! It's my husband and I this year and to be honest that suits us fine. the family are great but I soon get tired with all the talking. We count our blessings and they are many. God bless you all, Iris xx
