Hi,
I can think of no way to manually check a person's oxygen blood level accurately, without blood tests, probes or an oxometer. If a person has blue lips, or purpley blue finger nails then that would be an obvious sign along with shortness of breath that they are not receiving adequate oxygen. I am sure that it is not what you mean though. Sorry, I cannot think or know of any other way. Pressing someone's gums which should be pink, and releasing the finger quickly, makes them go white for a second or two, but should return to their normal pink colour quickly. If they do not, then that can be a sign of circulation problems, which may affect the oxygen level. However, it may mean other things too, and is a bit vague and non specific, and only indicates possible circulation problems and there are many possible reasons for this, including respiratory/circulation and heart.
Sorry, I cannot be of more help.
hugs from Huggs xxxx
You would be best to renew your oximeter.
As Huggs says, the only other way to check oxygen levels is by arterial blood gases.I have never heard of another way! D.
