Why does it take so long

All of the messages I'm getting are up to 20 hours old. I know this doesn't happen to everyone because of the answers people give. Does anyone else have this problem?

Do you have a slow internet connection ? Wifi is best. Depends on your area!

I only have the problem with not getting any emails anymore,checked my settings they're fine,& have wifi.Have reported it,so will see what happens,this is the first time of having probs in 2 years,so can't really complain! xx
