I'm hearing a lot about honey, what's the best one for COPD/Emphysema suffers.
And what does it do for us.

Apparently it's a natural antibiotic. I may give the Scottish Heather one a go.
All types delicious on porridge, salad dressing, cooking pork etc....yum....x
Hi David
Manuka honey is the best you can get. It's expensive..and I mean expensive, but honestly it's worth every penny for the positive effects it has on the whole of your body.
I did some extensive internet research on Manuka Honey when I first heard about it. Though there's no clinical trials as such, as I love honey anyway I decided anything that might help is worth a try. I mean how much worse can it get!!! haha
As it's so expensive I only use it once a day, on my toast each morning (bit of goats butter too..can't have toast without butter now can you?) Here's a link which might be of help to you, but please note check with your doctor if you have diabetes before using the stronger one.

Hi Bev
Where do you buy yours from, please?
I would love to try it (love most types of honey!) but don't want to get conned - my daughter's vet uses it on open wounds and her dog healed very quickly.
Jude
I am currently researching Scottish heather honey so keep an eye on my posts for the next few weeks. So far a vast improvement in my sleeping pattern(I,m on 20mg maintainance dose steroids and sleep really badly) had three good nights sleep.I,m simply having one smallish teaspoon just before bed.D.
Will watch out for your posts FarmerD. I have been very pleased with Manuka honey. M x
Most supermarkets these days sell Manuka honey qbjb.
You can buy it in jars or squeezy bottles (give me a good glass jar anytime) there are different strengths and the stronger it is, the more expensive the jar (I'm talking up to £20.00).
It has a very different taste than other honey, and it's a lot darker and thicker in texture. Unlike FarmerD I haven't done a 'difference' test, simply because I take so much medication. Plus COPD isn't the only disease I suffer from, so I'd have a hard job proving that it was the Manuka honey making the difference. However I suffer IBS and it certainly seems to settle that down when it flares up.
Certainly worth a try.

I use Manuka and it is a lot cheaper from Aldi (Other stores do sell it)
Thanks for the feed back, two types the good old Scottish one and Manuka.
Will go out and hunt down the Scottish one today, searched it and a lot of feed back is stating the Scottish heather honey is giving Manuka a run for it's money.
Only thing is, what streanth do i go for?

I use Manuka honey too, it's good but at they say expensive.P
Hi one and all ,I watched only yesterday a program on BBC 2 called "Hive Alive" It went on about bees and the gathering of nectar and the making of honey. They show a man suffering with skin disease and the hospital tried antibiotic's but make the man suffer side effects they then tried maggots, but they died, they were thinking of multiple amputations, but before that they tried "Manuka honey " made by bees from the Manuka tree that grows in New Zealand and the man made a remarkable healing and quick recovery ....Later they visited a Professor Rose Cooper in the Cardiff Metropolitan University who talked much about honey. But one thing she did say is that when certain honey's are diluted one of the enzymes is Hydrogen Peroxide! Strange because I have been interested in the use of Hydrogen Peroxide to use with distilled water in a nebuliser it offers great aid to LUNG sufferers check this out on " You Tube " I have suffered 16 years with Emphysema. I haven't tried it yet But I have purchased Hydrogen Peroxide And distilled water. But please be advised look at it first on YOU Tube to find out quantities used in this method .I will be trying this out in the very near future. bless you all
honey creates hydrogen peroxide when it comes into contact with the fluid from your body this is why its so effective at curing lots of skin disorders and other things, for it to be effective it mustn't have any heat used in the making of it.
