You may well have asthma but until you have spiro test then just by listening is not always the best way forward. It seems so far they have done all the right things for you. Has he given you inhalers ?

Yes ventolin and xanax, I have panic attacks alot and shortness of breath but the shortness of breath dont last but half an hour.i also have nodules and a goiter on thyroid that was five years ago though. I get red in the face swetty hands and I have mitro valve prolapse also so its anyones guess.

Sorry I don't know but if you are worried it might be worth a call to the helpline and see if the Nurses can help you - click on the red balloon. Good Luck, TAD xxx

Lots of people get short of breath without suffering from COPD or asthma. It can be just because you have lost your bodies natural breathing control..ie no longer breathing from your diaphragm. It may also be that you are out of condition or unused to doing those tasks that make you struggle. Being SOB is all around us. An athlete can train for years to do one particle discipline but still be SOB after doing it....it just proves he has pushed his body out of the comfort zone. Being SOB is not the real issue. The real issue is how soon do you recover your breath and by what means.

I agree about the shortness of breath, lots of things can cause it. I have COPD but my biggest problem is the cough. The breathing I can cope with most of the time, if most of your tests are clear then maybe there is another explanation for your breathing difficulties. If your scan was clear then it is unlikely to be COPD, but it does not mean you don't have a problem. You need a correct diagnosis of the cause. Even if it is just out of condition some exercises would help, just as they do in the case of COPD.
