Any one had lung reduction surgery,?

Hi kat kat,
I have no direct experience of lung reduction surgery , however some members on here do and have had the non invasive type of LVRS . ( lung volume reduction surgery ) This fairly new method does not involve full surgery , but the insertion of valves via the windpipe while under sedation rather than anaesthetic. One is called "johnwr " another "notlocal" and another "outfor lunch." If you type their name into the search box above you should be able to read some of their posts . There is an even newer method involving "coils " . Sorry I can't do links but hope that someone will be along soon to tell of their own experience or provide a link to more information.
Cheers Coastal ,
Hi KatKat I had 50% of my right lung removed over 9 years ago now at Guys Hospital, they were absolutely fantastic, the lung has stretched back to its old size although I am only able to transfer 25% of the oxygen into the blood stream so do get short of breath. I am not on oxygen, but I have been on Pulmonary Rehab twice and am currently on the follow up maintenance course. I still work so it is not the end of the world and I am not superman (more like Cooperman) just try not to worry everything will be fine. if you want to chat this is the site to do so because there is always someone who has been there.
I had the top of my right lung removed and a giant bullae sewn up 20 months ago, feeling so much better appart from right now as I have an infection and am on antibiotics but it was well worth having done, some days I forget I have got COPD, search my posts as I wrote a lot about the op and getting over it at the time.
Hi perce thank you for your reply im still getting my head around it , im glad its helped you and its made me feel a bit more positive about getting it done,.because im in my 40 s and iam restricted in many ways but there's hope thanks xx
