Maintenance steroids.

Just been to doctor,had exacerbation during the night for no apparent reason.Been on 10mg maintenance dose of prednisolone now going back up to 20mg for a week then see if 15mg will be enough,fingers crossed.Any one know the highest sustainable maintenance dose?I hate the dam things but they do enable me to live outside hospital.

Oh dear i hope you are ok . Im on maintenance of 2-5 mg im currently on 2 been on 30mg reduced to 0 and off i go again . Im having a blood test nxt week as my body may not be making my own hence why flare up. Could this be same with you ? Worth checking . I hate them too but needs must at times eh . Take carexxx

Thanks Wendells,Tiger I,m just waiting for appointment to have my old bones tested to see the damage if any the steroids have done will try and remember to ask about that.Is the treatment of that different to just more steroids?I,m feeling a bit better already thanks folks.D.

Hi ther ! I bee on maintence dose of steroids for 25 years. I used to be on 10 mgms daily, then over the years the dose has needed to be higher. .Now im on 30 mgms daily and cant seem to get any lower ..But i think your body adapts and adjusts. Really i should be about 30 stone. !!But you have to ajust your life style .After all its better than the alternative. ! Good luck sue.

Ive just noticed your queery about osteoporosis ...i have an infusion every 3 months to keep things under controll ..but you can have tablets if your not too.bad. ..hope this helps. Sue

I have Alendronic acid tablets 70mg one a week and calceos daily to combat side effects of the steroids.

Invest in decent inhalers, alternative treatment.

It is not my place to invest in "decent inhalers".I have doctors looking after my health and expect them to advise me as to my best medication that is their job.
