Tired
Oh meike I wish I knew. It is that terrible not sleeping because of cough, cough, cough. Bad enough the fatigue that comes with COPD. You end up so drained of energy. Take care of yourself. Get well soon xx
Hi Suzy6, I am not sure if it's the cough that's worse than the fatigue or the other way round but what I would give just to be able to go to bed and sleep straight through till morning my little garden is crying out to be tided for the summer and at the moment I keep thinking maybe tomorrow I wiil not be so tired I can't remember ever feeling like this before , I need to shake myself up and try harder thank you for your kind words x
hi have you tried a glass of milk before bed and a nice warm bath to help you relax?
Just wondering whether you are feeling really fed up with everything, meike, Lack of sleep needs to be dealt with. I feel that you are tensed up and getting very frustrated with yourself. I think you need to sit back and trying to relax. Easier said than done, but work on it. I know all about COPD and coughing, believe me.
Have a chat with your doctor, study relaxation on the web, applicaton of lavender on your pillow, milky drinks - Sleep with your head well up. I am probably telling you what you already know. 2 problems here: ease the cough and then relax. Wish you well xx
Thank you for your advice I will try all these things x
Hi meike sorry to hear how unwell you are, miserable for you.Trouble with infections they do interrupt our sleep patterns unfortunately and if your on steroids they can be an enemy for sleeping well.I havnt slept right through for yars and yars lol but when the lungoes are not well my getting ready to snuggle routine is as follows, about an hour before, i start applying vicks or olbas oil to try and clear tubes and stop the mucous dripping at the back of throat and nose which makes us cough then i suck a cough sweet and take my nutty tablet amytriptoline 50mg this helps with sleep, just before I turn everything off I take solpadoles apply more vicks or olbas oil, have a good glug of covonia original !! then its goodnight vienna and always have cold drink at the ready. The most I sleep is 3 hours at a time then its up for puffer drink more vicks etc etcI dont know if any of it makes a difference but its my habit and ritual if you like.Sorry meike im no bliddy help lol!! Ido hope you manage to get a good night sooner rather than later, get well soon Janexx
You are all so kind thank you x
Spoon of honey, hot chocolate after all meds, nebs etc. Pillows enough to prop you up slightly and maybe some relaxing favourite music on an an iPod/ phone/ CD or tape player. Maybe just the radio. I find if I'm listening to something, even partially, I'm not so conscious of my breathing and it helps to calm it down. Maybe you need to ask your doctor to suggest something that might help. Good Luck !
Sorry to hear you not well , but i allways say listen to your body ...no one knows it like you !!i know it sounds simple but if you exhausted. Rest. !!! Dont push yourself. It takes time to get well. !!I,m guily of pushing myself when i,m not well. But i have now learned after having resp problems. ! Rest is when your body heals. Hope you soon feeling better . Ther is no shame in having rew days in bed ,resting , and eating chocky biscuits. X
