Your local Respiratory Nurse usually has this information (you can get her number from your local hospital or possibly GP surgery if you don't have it). Your GP, Respiratory nurse or Consultant can recommend you for a course. Some areas have more to offer than others meaning you might not have to wait too long.
Best of luck.

Thank you !! I have two appointments at my local hospital, and I can get any info then .. Also doing my best to give up smoking, and I keep reading that exercise is an aid to improving breathing but right now I find it hard to walk too far as my leg muscles just give up !!
Once again Thank You for your help
Malcolm
GP referral onto nearest course subject to availability in my experience. Walk as much as your able as you wait for a course dont give up and good luck rocket1206.
Rocket1206, as i understand it you need a referral from GP or Hospital for pulmonary rehab least ways that's how it is here in the Midlands, good luck with it.
Get yourself to the gym I've been going now for a year, I have a personal trainer that keeps a check on me I do 15min on the treadmill 10min on the rowing machine chest press, leg press and arm press in all about 45min, I've also done the pulmonary rehab which was a referral from Dr's which shows you how to manage COPD Bliss
Thanks for this ... did you find the pulmonary rehab useful ?
Bliss, I agree with you . I have signed up a long time ago to the gym. They have refurbished the gym with new massive equipment and plenty of people around to ask how to do this or that.
I've been in hospital for 3 weeks and still have some antibiotic poured in my veins. But at home you can do some exercises for your lungs. check on You Tube, exercises for COPD, how to regain shortness of breat, there are a few lovely ones.
Look up Tai chi and Chi Gong. Chigong is the medical part of TaiChi and contains healing exercises. Hope you feel good.
Hi rocket1206, you will have to be referred by your doctor or respiratory nurse, then be assessed before you are accepted on a course. I start my first PR on Wednesday, twice a week for 6 weeks, don't know how I'll cope but hoping for the best. I've heard very positive comments about PR. Good luck and take care, Lizzy
I have copd mild and I have up smoking as my staring point. I have done well but I still have the occasional cigarette. The consultant told me that's the best thing I could ever doq the other thing I did is buy a good away exercise bike which I do for 30 mind a day. Other than that I just keep myself active with the day to day running pig my life!! I want allowed top go on a program course s they said I want advanced enough which I think is madness. If we knew more and were given exercises, maybe we could delay our copd! But my consulted keeps emphasizing that not smoking is the best thing we can do to help ourselves. So goodluck with that . Regards Carol
XNeed to quite smoking everything else is miner unless you don't smoke know from experience
There are two PR classes around where I live in Berkshire....One in Tilehurst and one in Wokingham.....I was referred by COPD community team so guess you will be by your Nurse or Dr. There's quite a waiting list and I am due to start a course in April hopefully.
