Hi Peter1 This looks like the same treatment Sohara posted about today that she saw in yesterdays' Daily Mail.
Your article looks like it's something that's only available privately, at the moment. It's probably too new to be available in the UK - yet.
I'll be watching out for more about it and hope they tell us about some of the people that have had the treatment and their outcome/progress.
Hi Peter ...thanks for posting this first ...I knew that stem cell research has been progressing ..
Let's hope it's a success in future to give a good kick to our rusty lungs ...
Regards Wes
If this is a treatment that works and is in private clinics why then has the British Lung Foundation no research on it, or clinical trial results ? Surely we deserve to have the chance of treatment over here even if we need to wait for the trial results. I for one will put my name down as a guinea-pig for trials if the Foundation want test subjects.
Hi all, I am told by a retired Dr that stem cells have restored Peoples hearing and now they are working in the eyes .Here in my town one lady had her sight restored using her tooth.Lets hope one day it will be second nature to restore all ills I salute those pioneers Lola.
This country is way behind Germany and Switzerland In health.
There are more and more of these type of 'developments' We can only hope that one of them does in fact prove effective...it would be the answer to all our prayers...but I have also read reports from S America where people have lost lots of money paying to private clinics for stem cell therapy.... I kind of feel its not a reality yet...but I think they are getting close..whether its in time to help any of us on here is not clear.
I actually find the research being done on the diabetes drugs that seem to reverse COPD ( trials going on now) seem a more probable first 'discovery' ...as the drugs are already cleared for patient use.....so if by chance they do reverse COPD then that would be amazing
Yes, I knew a chap who had stem cell treatment in Russia a couple of years ago (he's English) and reported a great improvement, so much so that he moved to Thailand to get married and I haven't heard from him since! This is totally true, I know it sounds like I'm trying to be funny but very true! I'm sure as soon as the treatment is deemed safe enough in the UK it will become available. Roll on, any new treatments are great news. Libby
A professor from New Delhi University wrote a paper and detailed how it works. Been tested on mouse models there and worked well when Micro 1 protein was added to the stem cells for airway injury and asthma. They are talking about introducing these into the tunneling nanotubes to the lungs. So still not in trial stage in humans at CSIR INSTITUTE 0F GENOMICS & INTERGRATED BIOLOGY in New Delhi India but Professor Anurag Agrawal proved that stem cells were more effective with the protein MIRO 1 added. So we just have to keep reading Tues Daily Mail and websites and asking consultants. Then keep each other informed. Hope this will be soon tested on humans!
