I was sent home at 10am after a 8am start on monday (last week) and then took the remainder of the week off, I work mon to fri, and it's now 3am and I'm still having breathing problems, I work in a call centre and I can barely say a full sentence without becoming very exhausted. I have an appointment at 3pm today with my GP, do I go in to work and try to get through until my appointment or do I stay off and ask for a sick note from the GP as I'm still not fit for work? I'm very confused and in a dilemma, any help would be appreciated

Morning Rustyy

Sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment. No one here can tell you whether you should go in to work today only you know how you're feeling and what your capabilities are at the moment.

I'm a call centre manager and my advice would be that if, as you say, you are not fit to work then you shouldn't be there. Good luck with whatever you decide and hope you're feeling better soon.

I agree with accygirl. I know how much you want to be well enough to go in. But if you set yourself back then it will be an even longer recovery period. Talk to your doc today

At the moment it feels like everyone has chest infections etc that are hard to shift. ( me included ) but you don't want to pick up a bug at work which would make you worse

Hope you feel better very soon

As previous comments; you are the only one who knows if you are well enough to go to work.I believe as far as sickness cover, your self cert still covers for today as you actually worked part-day last monday (going in as normal in the morning). You should confirm this with your HR. I hope you soon feel better.Take care of yourself. June

Thanks for all your replies! I always get so stressed and scared about phoning in sick, I don't want people to think I'm taking the micky. I'm about to phone my boss again and let him know I'm going back to the doctors and I'll get a sick note if needed. It's so comforting knowing there's people out there to listen! Thank you all :)

off course its easy for others to say,, but really your health is more important than your work,,, if, and i say if? this gets worse you may not be able to work at all,!!! so better phoning in, not going to work, and make sure you get to the appoint with your doc. this might just save you for the future, good luck with your appointment, hope all goes well,,regards ,,,jimmy
