this isn't a security issue i don't think, it's more of an attack on the site. spamming it via a post bomber which sends out mass posts. the chap signed up to make all those posts with the intent of slowing the site down.

Surely they have spam filters to stop this sort of attack, then?

And btw....I don't have to sign in each time I come on here....the link is in my email and opens automatically....was a bit surprised about that!

i do have to sign in, though i have set my pc not to save cookies when i close my browser, as i don't like the always logged in approach. there should be a spam filter i would imagine or even flood control. these things happen, they shouldn't . hopefully this will force blf to look at there settings.

Troll filter would be good too, still waiting on the block option, ....oh happy days..... meantime pink tints help :)

It looks like someone posted a message with a link in it. It only takes one person to open the link and the trolls have access -not really the site's fault. LittleUsker, I would take the site out of your email list because it could easily jump into your email list and start sending out spam to your contact list looking like you sent it. Save the site to your bookmarks or favourites instead.

Your email list - do you mean contacts, address. I am such a do do xxx

in reply topergola1

Sorry, yes, your contacts. It happened to me a few years ago and I had to change my email/passwords etc. be very wary of opening any links unless you are sure of their source.

Sometimes I have to sign and and sometimes not...I don't know why. I have decided to sign out each time and have changed the settings on my account so I don't get any emails from here till the problem is sorted.

Most of these type of attacks stem from abroad. I only hope no one trys to ring the phone number as this apparently is how they make there money.

I am saddened by this as it has detracted from the tribute posts put up for Chris who passed away yesterday.
