Hi Anyone.Has anybody over huffed to shift mucus resulting in chest pain that feels like indigestion.Bengunn.
No, but i could see it happening. When you huff you use the muscles in your diaphragm which will have an impact on the LES (lower oesophageal spincter) the valve at the top of the stomach. It is this valve which is leaky in people who have acid reflux, and huffing will put pressure on it.
yes, did this ovenight and this morning, in fact got me concerned a wee bitty.[i was trying to get a sputum sample for doctor, this morning] i shall mention this to doc, ben. see what she thinks.
i will be interested to see other answers
I had something to that effect from huffing and think I must have strained something. It also happened when I coughed deeply which I think involves similar reflexes inside. The pain stayed for days although it wasn't intense.
I certainly get pain in my chest, through huffing. I have the pain right now as I have a chest infection. My ribs hurt so much I could cry.
plenty of times don't worry it is just strain.
Hi Bengunn I had a coffin fit yesterday it was so bad I couldn't breath and the pain in my rib cage hope your feeling better
Hope it wasn't a 'coffin' fit. Are you still there?? Popplewell
onamission, I don't usually promote syrup, but in this case, so you don't exacerbate and tear your muscles, take any syrup that can calm and stop this cough. You can try very gently doing the ACBT, (see below) but only very gently, just to free you from the excess mucus. Have plenty of hot drinks, especially when you feel you're going to cough
Hi Onamission.Sorry about coffin fit hope you are feeling a little better today.I feel a bit easier today but I don't think my infection has cleared up.This the 4th since October.I finished my ab and steroids yesterday but I think I may take a few more steroids to keep the inflammation at bay until Monday when I am due to see respiratory nurse and hopefully my consultant.Bengunn.xxxx.
Lol yes sorry coughing although I do feel if I should be in a coffin
Relax a little! The pain will subside eventually. Now you know why you have to learn ACBT and do it gently!
