Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any experience of how to gain a PowerBreathe Medic on prescription? I know they are available although I am wondering what the criteria is to be able to get one on prescription?

Have a great day y'all !

I would be interested to know about powerbreathe, but what is also needed is the dedication to use it regularly. I am telling myself this. I think there is information to print off on the website which can be shown to the GP or nurse. xx

Hi Pergola, yes motivation is often an issue for me too! I am not too bad at walking lots, a couple of miles x 3 times a week. Although this winter, after a year which has been full on with a protracted move of house, decorating the new house until I dropped, and now this terrible damp weather! It has all taken a toll on the lung function I do have, and recently a long exacerbation this month. Now I am feeling a bit better, I wondered if a Power Breathe Medic might help me? I have restarted the PR exercises at home and am determined to keep them up 2-3 times a week. Last winter, after about 1 year of regular exercise I got through the winter really well , although it was so cold and then the level of fitness really helped me to do that. So now hoping someone knows about a PowerBreathe Medic. Yes I will copy the info sheet from the website. Thanks. :-)

I think you must be a lot younger than me. Your message has raised two new issues, motivation and house moving. The latter is heavily on my mind, and being "slow", I want to get ready and tire easily. I think BlakeyC has given information some time ago. Perhaps a PM if I get desperate.

I got my powerbreathe last year on prescription -I asked my asthma nurse and she did it for me. Like a lot of posters say, dedication is needed - I used to do it twice a day and felt as though it was making a difference - then picked up a virus and couldn't cope with it, this was followed by a severe attack of gout that was so painful and it left me feeling quite debilitated, so haven't got around to picking it up again.

Maybe now I will. :-)
