I don't think the pain in your arm is a typical connection with COPD, I would go see your GP and mention to your consultant about this symptom explaining what happens when its cold and damp.

My lungs don't like the cold, damp, rainy weather either and my lungs do hurt to breathe if I am out in it. But I think something else might be going on with the pain in your arm, shoulder and back, that probably needs checking out. Just explain to the doc what you have said here.

Best wishes BC

I sometimes feel dizzy / breathless reaching up for plates in the cupboard the only pain is cramp after stretching. Have a doctor check it's not safe blaming COPD for all our ills we can catch other things because we are not so healthy now as we once were.

hi I wonder if you are hunching your shoulders when you have difficulty breathing. this could causea trapped nerve in the neck which might cause this. perahps you should talk to your doc.

I have been having similar problems since xmas, but I also have pain in my armpit! Been back an forwards to docs who said its muscular then was sent to a&e who said muscular but I am still in real bad pain. I now have an appointment at the hospital for the 20th of this month, maybe a new set of eyes will figure it out,im fed up feeling like a zombie on all these painkillers!!!

Can I just ask you - are you on any medication for high blood pressure? My husband who has severe COPD was given some meds. in about May last year and one of the side effects was very bad pain in his upper arm which has completely disappeared since he stopped taking them. Talk to your Doctor it needs checking out I think TAD xx

Yes I am on Nifedipine, though not because of high blood pressure, in fact mine is sometimes low, but as I was experiencing more shortness of breath about 4 months ago, had heart scan which showed there is problem with my heart due to lung condition, so that this medication has helped. Seeing consultant in a couple of weeks, maybe he can help. Thanks TAD.

I also get pain in upper arms and shoulders, more so with exacerbation. Doc suggested pain is transferring from neck and is from muscles tensing and over working. Suggested rest, relaxation, exercises to strengthen de-conditioned muscles.
