Hi Kad,well I'm glad I gave up quite a few years ago now!!

I do remember though how hard it is,& anybody struggling with it has my sympathy! But there is light at the end of the tunnel, & the wonderful day comes, when you realise you are deffo not a smoker anymore.I used to love seeing my cigs.savings adding up,& getting myself a lovely treat.Good luck,to anyone struggling with it,but it can be done!! xxx

Hi Wendells, I know I have been smoke free for 3 months only, smoked for 40 years, hence the COPD. I was diagnosed last January and have been trying to stop ever since it is the most insidious addiction. I am craving a cigarette as I type and almost bought some at the petrol station this morning. Just posted this to make myself and people have something to think about as they thinking about lighting up, hopefully it will help someone xx

Big pat on the back to you for resisting, wonderful, you will find these urges come, but if you can resist them, they realy do pass! I found I just had to make myself busy at those times,& not dwell on it.I know, easier said than done!

You will be strong though,I can feel it.

I meant to answer a previous post of yours, but the heat wave we had, made me brain dead! Hope your weathers better.

Anyway, just wanted to say, don't take to heart any nasty comments from hubby. He is probably scared deep down,& doesn't know how to handle it.maybe when he's in the right frame of mine, try explaining how hurtful it is to you, without being accusing,if you know what I mean?

Do you have access to a breathe easy group or equivalent, being with others may help your situation, besides being very helpful to yourself.Have you been to a PR group, maybe your Doc.can refer you to one?

Well big hugs to you,let me know how you go,breathe easy, Wendells xxxx

Hello 49er, good luck I have taken Champix and they are good but not a magic fix you still need to be strong xx

Welcome 49er! Hope this site gives you some help! Good luck with the smoking cessation.

I have heard champix is quite good,I went cold turkey,at the time.Whatever aids help, just remember its realy up to you! I always used to say,it's my choice if I stick it in my mouth, nobody's forcing me!

You have a good incentive anyway!! xxx

Hi, oh yes life is better with out a ciggy and it is 10 years now since I picked one up.

It is wondrous that we all struggle to stop smoking and consider it it will be such a trial and struggle to stop.....and yet.....when it came to it for me I was so ill that I stopped over night, after 43 years of smoking. I was gob smacked that it was, after all it was so easy. It was only myself, my mind, my thinking that made it so difficult in all those years when I 'wanted' to give up the coffin nails.

If you want to stop, be brave, be courageous, just go for it. Life will be better without them, no horrible smell on you, no more feeling guilty...that was the best bit for me and better health. It is a choice, your choice! Good luck y 'all.
