Hi Shirley, flibberti's right, it could be a lot of things, either drug related or an illness. I get very jittery if I have too much salbutamol, but all over not just my hand. I have a friend whose hands shook at lot before he was diagnosed with a thyroid problem. It could be so many things your best bet is to see your gp. Best wishes, Sadie xx
Hi Fliberti, I get the shakes several times a day. I have grown to accept it as one of the symptoms, whether of COPD or my meds I don't know. It seems minor, in my case, when compared with V SOB and/or panic attacks.
Hi Shirley me to have it right hand most of the time, then both sometimes and then ican feel a whole body tremberly feeling,Ithink ventolin can be to blame, lack of sleep can make me a bit shakey, there must be so many variables. An aunt of mine had terrible shakes we all thought it must be Parkinsons, it wasnt though they called it a benign tremor what ever that might mean exactly? She was given meds that helped her ,as by that time she was shake rattling and rolling quite badly ,it was nerve racking watching her make a cuppa !.I would ask your doc difficult one to answer Shirley sorry. Janexx
My nurse told me it is cause by my Ventolin inhaler
KOTC
Like others have said in post`s, I too get shaky and overwhelmingly weak.
When I spoke to my specialist about it he confirmed that is was probably due to my ventolin and Seratide.
I also have a shocking short term memory and he said that was down to my last exasperation and the oxygen.
It does no harm to see your GP.
Tom.
HI - my husband has trembling in his hands actually some days he struggles to sign his name. We have put it down to a combination of his drugs but ventolin is particularly bad! I would ask the GP though. TAD xx
Hi, I also had terrible tremors when I started treatment many years ago. I was told it was Ventolin. I'm now on Seretide 500mg twice a day and Ventolin only if required (PRN). The tremors are now very minor, and I only rarely use the Ventolin. XX Val
Hi Shirley, the tips given are correct. I have non essential hand tremor, made worse by drugs ect. This is an inherited disease your born with but effects both hands, Parkinson's is another shaking disease. So you need to try and establish the cause, if it's inhalers or drugs then maybe a reduced dose might be possible or there are even drugs for the tremor if it's due to illness. If it's caused by weak muscles then physio might help, so as you see it's not that clear cut. Hope this helps you to consider what it might be and seek help to find the cause and maybe a solution.
I have shaky hands and my doctor said it is an essential tremor in both hands and it is inherited, my three sons and my husband have shaky hand, it funny trying to pour milk from the bottle in the morning for cereals and tea.
