Do you take carbocisteine Carol? If not you need to ask your gp for some. It's a mucolytic and thins the mucus down thereby making it easy to bring up.

I can't manage without it, I have no side effects although some people don't seem to like it. Well worth a try though.

Oh I sympathise Carol, hopefuly once you finish your antibiotics it will start to shift, Don't hesitate to see your gp or ask for a telephone appointment. Hopefully, you are on steroids as well which will give your lungs a bit more strength to deal with it, Good luck! Sadie xx

There's a cough mixture that you can get for thinning mucus I'm sorry can't remember the name but maybe you could ask your pharmacist or give your dr a call.

I think you need to go back to see your doctor to communicate the difficulties you are experiencing.

Good luck and hope you get some relief real soon.

Oh poor you. I have more mucus than I normally do at the moment but it is easy to cough up. Take care go back to GP.Mine gave me an inhalant to put in hot water over a bowl and inhale for 15 minutes. Helped greatly.

try your local herbalist for advice and/or a preparation. Using mucodyne and herbs I can cough up my mucus more easily.

Olbas drops in the inhalation mentioned above? xx

It sounds as if the antibiotic isn't clearing the infection and you need to go back to see your GP again. Sometimes one type of ab is not suitable for the particular bug in question but a different brand may work fine. Hope it clears up soon!

Thats what I was thinking 3 weeks on and my throat still feels a bit like broken glass (until I clear the mucus) but its definitely not going and the mucus is horrible and thick, thanks for replying
