Thankyou Jan,that certainly lifted my spirits! How wonderful,I did love Joyce, will watch the others later.xx
Brilliant! I haven't heard Joyce Grenfell in years. She was fantastic. Do you remember her in the St. Trinian films?

Oh yes she was a really underestimated actress because she was always playing the silly one but if you read her poems and life story she was a very strong person. This was what I was actually looking for but didn't think I should put it as the main topic.
If I Should Die
If I should go before the rest of you
Break not a flower nor inscribe a stone
Nor when I'm gone speak in a Sunday voice
But be the usual selves that I have known
Weep if you must
Parting is hell
But life goes on
So sing as well.
Joyce Grenfell
Hi Jan
Joyce Grenfell was one of greatest if not the greatest of our comediennes. How well she compares with the modern ones like Jo Brand et al. No bad language or filth, just intelligent humour and superb timing. A wonderful woman.

Agree with all the above. An amazing talented and funny lady. I can’t remember where I found "If I should die" but it rang an immediate chord with me, saying exactly what I should like to say, if only I had the ability to put words together like that.
Thank you Jan, I really enjoyed the comedy and was very moved by the poem. I used to love Joyce Grenfell's monologues about Sidney et al in school. Alison
