Specialist has recommended I have one, but he also stated that 1 in 20 people get pneumonia from it, this has scared me, has anyone on here had any problems?

Pneumonia vaccine
My husband was one who got Pneumonia after having it, needless to say I have refused to have it.I also know plenty who have had it with no problem at all.
I have had pneumonia. Ever since then, I have had the pheumonia jabs without any problems.
Hi, I had the jab two years ago and not had pneumonia since. I felt pretty awful for a couple of days afterwards, however, very very glad that I risked it.
I'd had pneumonia five times in eighteen months. P
I had the pneumonia jab about 8 years ago, I think its a bit debatable as to whether its a `one off` or you need to have it regularly. I spent 5 weeks in hospital earlier this year with pneumonia but there are different strains so perhaps you are not protected against them all/

I had the jab 2-3 months ago. No side effects. Was not told about the risks. Just told to roll sleeve up and wham! you have just had the pneumonia jab.
I had mine two years ago, I had a small reaction to the jab (probably because I moved when they spiked me) but so far, touching wood, kept free of pneumonia. xx
the pneumonia jag is once in every 10 years.it is better to have the jag as we all have lung conditions and if we are not covered can have seriouse cocequences.
My husband was recommended to have it - had it about five years ago. No side effects. Better to have it if you have a lung condition. TAD xx
Had mine 13 years ago with no ill-effects - double risky as I have M.E too. Unlike the flu vaccine the pneumonia vaccine is a live virus. Seems to be some confusion with how often we should have the jab. One GP told me it's a one-off unless the spleen has been removed, then it should be every 10 years xx
I had one about 6 years ago...had no ill effect x
I had one and didn't have any side effects
I had jab last year. Was fine apart from arm swelling a bit.
I had mine 3 years ago,and all been ok since.
I've not had any problems. I had the pneumonia vaccine about 10 years ago. I've not had pneumonia.
I think the vaccine doesn't guarantee you won't get pneumonia, but I also think it is believed that the antibodies built as a result of the vaccine could be the difference between survival or not for some patients, the body being better equipped to survive pneumonia hopefully without possible further lung damage, at least that is the way I look at it, my thoughts are the same about having the annual flu jab.
Ultimately the choice is yours Kad21 but I think as your specialist has advised it....... up to you.
I had the jab and had no problems apart from a sore arm for a few hours
I had the jab a couple of months ago, it did not give me pneumonia. it gave me a sore arm.
I had the jab 3 years ago I wasn't feeling great for a few days after it this was more than likely due to my lupus. I think it's a one off if your over 65 if under you need one gain 5 years from your first one.
I had it in October then the flu injection in November with no side affects.
I had the pneumonia jab about 3 months ago, was told that it was a "once only" jab and that my arm might be sore for a few days. No side effects other than the jab site was a bit tender to the touch for a couple of days.
Hubby, daughter and I have all had it with no reaction.
