Went to the docs this morning told him about my reflux and weight loss he has put it down to stress. I can increase my lanzaprazole to twice a day until the reflux has settled down, he says not to keep it at that for too long as it causes thinning of the bones and can affect other medication I take.
He has weighed me and done my sats which were 93 at rest, he wants to see me again next week and do the same again.
I have told him I do not want any tablets and can't see that getting cognitive therapy will help, I have good reason to be stressed with my husband loosing his sight and me having to take over the running of the home, he used to look after me now it has all changed.
He used to do most of the cooking so that is mostly down to me now and I hate it, hence not eating properly.
I told him I will try not to worry so much but not holding my breath.

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate..so no wonder youre stressed..hope things get better xxxx
You sound really stressed - this is hard for you. I also hate cooking always have - can always find better things to do with my time! I know how mad that sounds we all need to eat - but I did cotton on to buying a chicken and cooking that - easy at this time of year to have with new pots and salad, followed next day by chicken pasta!! AND buy prepared food - much easier to unwrap and cook! Try to take one day at a time if you can. My husband gets very bad reflux when he is stressed. Good luck and if possibly stay positive! (So damn easy to type not so easy in reality!). WIth love and good wishes TAD xx
So sorry to hear you and your hubby are really going through it, all you can do is take one day at a time.Thats what my hubby and I do, God knows how, but we get through it some how.You both take care.Genexxxx
Pollyjj, really sorry to hear about your problems. Glad that you came and shared them with us. BLF nurses are friendly and helpful, if you needed to talk. Tel 03000030555. (ought to have that tattood on my hand, can never remember it.)
Thinking about cooking. I dont like cooking as much as I used to. Good ready meals are fine but be selective. On line shopping is convenient. I find stir fries are very versatile and tasty. And soups.
No wonder you are stressed and might well be reason for the lower sats too at the moment. I know exactly how you feel about the cooking, I venture into the kitchen under duress; like Annie, stir frys are the best for me and if I want anything more exotic I coach the semi-surly son from the comfort of my chair. My reasoning is that he needs to know this anyway so rather than being classed as a lazy mare, I am in fact being a good mummy. Try and make some 'you' time in the midst of everything and you can always let rip on here if you need. Warm wishes xx
Thinking again, pollyjj, have you contacted the social services for help available. Also Age concern if you are old enough. Anything to make life easier for you and husband. Love Annieseed -- do tell us how you are getting on xx
So sorry you are so stressed polly. So hard to have to reverse roles from being cared for to becoming a carer. I hope you can find some ways to reduce the stress. Relaxation exercises can help, though when Im stressed (like now with similar worsening of reflux) I cant relax enough to do them!
Take care with the stir fries - they are a brilliant way to make a quick meal but fried foods can make reflux worse for lots of people.
One way I do it is to first put in a small amount of water to the frying pan, then add a very small amount of olive oil, then the various ingredients. So they are cooking in the steam with just a bit of oil to help flavour etc. As above i find soups brilliant.
Don't necessarily dismiss cognitive therapy polly - its just about management strategies, not about messing around with your psyche!
It sounds like you need help with food and cooking, get meals delivered, very important to you.the cost is not so important ,there's money for you to apply for.take care.
