Yes I have these and they did make a great difference at first - now I am not so sure. They are quite an old fashioned treatment according to my GP but my consultant put me on them. Supposed to be monitored regularly but cant say that they have been.

Hi, I'm on these 450mg twice daily. They seem to help. Take care, Richard.

My asthmatic daughter had theophillyne capsules 25years ago, and she had to have regular blood tests ( I think to check the level of the drug in her system, but she was only 8 at the time) Her consultant later gave her inhaled Becatide instead.

Have you rung the BLF helpline for more information?

Hi I've been taken 400mg for 20 yrs now at night as my asthma is worse then. Without them I would wake a few times a night to take my asthma pumps as I would have a tight chest which disrupted my sleep. Taking these I sleep well and only need my asthma pumps once during the evening :) I've never had a blood test to check the levels in my blood since being on them and I'm perfectly fit & well otherwise no problems huge difference in my asthma with them too.;)
