Well you can bore me again and again Jan - wow! Love the cat in the pot and the real one too - maybe next time, a running commentary ? :)

It was bad enough breathing let alone talking as well :D

Ah that's what the sound was, and I thought it was the breeze rustlin' through those lovely plants :D

Thanks for sharing jandan, I could hear your breathing difficulty while filming, I think you need to sit down with a nice cuppa after that. Mind you the guy with the electric saw is probably adding dust to the air, hope the wind is blowing it away from your garden and nice cup of tea.

Have a nice restful afternoon, enjoy the garden its looking good.

That was lovely Jan. I can't believe how many plants we have in common. One exception though, I gave up on hostas. I got too many free slugs with every plant! As I never use chemicals, they had to go in the end (what was left of them)

I too have aquilegia, lavender, sambucca negra, etc. I also have ferns, alliums, germs, lupins etc etc. I could go on for ever!

I get slug damage on my hostas but I just love them I have about 20 different ones mainly in pots - some are not out yet - I use fish tank grit around the bases and vaseline around the rims of my pots and the way I look at is if the snails/slugs can overcome the barriers they are welcome. I use no herbicides or insecticides either and I don't weed much because weeds can fill the empty spaces. I am a great believer of let it be in my garden (lazy gardener that's me ;) )

Wonderful garden, Jandan, a pleasure to see it. I put copper round the pot bases, and that seems to deter the light blighters .. Hubby was more into veggies, so would not allow any chemicals on the land at all.

We use nematode a at the allotment which are great for slugs but don't affect snails. We don't use any chemicals on our veg either. At home, everything has to just get on with it, and it does. As we have a cottage Arden feel, with no spaces, weeds and slugs don't win.

All my hostas are in pots (huge planters) - years ago, hubby "painted" them with a coating of cement, and then "rough-casted" the pots with very sharp stones - I've not had a bit of problem with either slugs or snails since - the little blighters don't appreciate the sharpness of the stones :)

Hi, Jandan & Lynne,

We have a snail problem in our garden and I came across the below web site last night. Although I love my beer I am going to give the "beer trap" a shot.

What a peaceful haven so beautiful

Fabulous garden Jandan! I have a round lawn too but I am currently "re-building" my garden because we have had to have a pump fitted as my garden now floods thanks to all the house building that has now enguled the fields that were there when we first bought our house! If I ever finish it I'll post a photo! :-P

Lovely garden Janet, I wish mine was that tidy. My video will have to wait untill I get a visit from Alan Titchmarsh.
