On this day last year, my nephew Jaimie and his love of 15 years, Nicola, married. Their two children, Emma and Grace were bridesmaids.
I missed the whole day because my sister, Catherine, gave me food poisoning the day before the wedding.
1st June 2012 was a gorgeous day - unfortunately, I was alternating between my bed in a B&B and the en suite bathroom.
Trying to breathe and trying to get rid of the fish my sister served me was horrendous. Not recommended.
I did have Catherine's husband, who is a paramedic, help me out, but I was so sad that I missed the ceremony.

Oh how sad what a pity xxxxx
Beautiful photo, they obviously had glorious weather!
It doesn't really compare to missing a one off special occasion, but I was always in bed with bronchitis every birthday and Christmas between the ages of about 3 and 10. Missing the fun while being ill is a rotten feeling.
Missing birthdays and Christmas for all those years definitely does compare!!!! How awful for you. I hope that you haven't missed too many occasions in the past few years.
It was awful at the time, so frustrating! I missed loads of school too but luckily my Gran who lived with us had been an infant school teacher and she taught me to read and write
Luckily I grew out of having bronchitis every winter once I got to the age of 18. Probably not having the stress of school any more LOL. I get it occasionally now, not often.
Oh Annec my sisters have also tried to kill me too, last time was when we were out and one of them forgot to put the brake on my wheelchair the response was when I said "you could have killed me" was "well that's our job"
At least your niece had nice weather and you can embarrass your sister for years to come
My sister will never live it down (not if I have anything to do with it). lol
I have lots of photographs from the day which I love. Emma and Grace (my great-nieces) gave me a description of the day too - they were so happy with their frocks and all the attention they received.
Let us thope that our respective sisters do not succeed with their aim!!!
Love and hugs

Oh sorry you missed that special day Annec, what a great photo and a good looking family.
I am wishing you and all the family many more happy years to enjoy, to make up for missing out on that day.
Are you partying tonight ? Have Fun and congratulations to the happy couple.
No partying tonight - COPD has put partying beyond me although I love watching other people enjoying themselves.
Cornwall to Dunfermline (Fife) and Edinburgh is such a long way that I don't see my family too often but we do keep in touch (and I must admit being totally jealous of my sister having such beautiful Granddaughters - I have no Grandchildren (but hope springs eternal)).
I hate weddings. Didn't even like my own. (either of them) Just an excuse for a pee up. And at the end of it another poor bloke surrenders his freedom. My second brood are coming up to marriagable age now and I'm dreading it.
I was surprised when I moved to the Black Country how poorly the women are treated here. (I'm generalising of course). The women where I come from (Bedford) seem to be treated much better. They are on more of an equal basis. Perhaps Bedford girls punch harder.
I do think that Jaimie and Nic should have had a re-run just for my benefit - they said that they would love to but said that they couldn't afford it again. To my way of thinking that was just an excuse. I'm Jaimie's favourite Auntie so he should have done it again (lol).
It was awful and Catherine (my sister) refused to believe it was the fish she gave me - I was the only one who had fish so ..........................!!!! Says it all, really.
Joking aside, I felt so ill that I didn't really think about what I was missing.
