Champix
Hi Antizan. I too was scared stiff when I was coming to the end of my course. I did eke it out for a bit longer by going down to one tablet a day. BUT, when I finished them, I was fine. I had no urgent desire to go back to the cigarettes, honestly.
By now the nicotine is well out of your system so you do not need it. Trust me. It's your brain trying to play tricks on you. Don't let it.
I have been a non smoker now for 18 months thanks to Champix.

I quit by using Champix, I only took the tablets for 3 weeks, the first week on the low dose. My quit date was at the end of 3 weeks, I kicked the ciggies and the tablets at the same time and have not lusted after either since
After a day or two of stopping smoking you should have got over the worst of the urges, after a couple of weeks you should not have any craving for a cig, If you've not smoked for 3 weeks then set another quit date soon, for the tablets
If you get the urge for a ciggy then stamp on your own foot, or kick your shin hard - to remind yourself that you're hurting your body if you smoke again...
You need to change your routine.I would light up as soon as i got in the car .As soon as I finished a meal etc. When you want a cig just breath in and out slowly I found it helped then go and find something to do that will take your mind off it. I did it without any aids at all and found it easier than I thought I would. If you have got this far you can do it. 27th September 2011 was the day I had my last cigarette I don't think I will ever forget that date.
Good luck
Gail
That's a really good point. I had forgotten. I had to do the same, so washing up straight after a meal. I moved a kettle upstairs with tea, coffee and milk so I had a morning drink in bed instead of going downstairs for one etc. I found it easier in a way because I hadn't smoked in the house for years.

Anitzan, I talked to the nurse as I was also worried, she gave me 2 extra weeks on the tablets. I think its all in the mind, we have given up the fags and now we have to give up our new crutch. Flipping heck, its never ending. We worry when we smoke, we worry when we dont lol. Some people find it easy to give up, I certainly didnt, four months for me but tonight I had three puffs of a friends cigarette. Whoops !!!! Ah well onwards and upwards, I am not going to beat myself up about it. It actually tasted quite nice, but hey I am a non smoker now. Tomorrow is another day. Good luck and keep going xx
do you get this champix from the doctor?
Go back to your surgery, tell them your fears because they can prolong the tablets for another couple of months. That will give you time to build up your confidence especially as previous post put it, cut down to one tablet day.
I am going with the one tablet a day, I have enough to take me to Monday and I will get an appointment to get some more.
I stopped smoking on Champix, didn't stop until the very last week. I've never had the urge to re-start. I would never smoke a cigarette again. I did try a drag of one last Sept and it tasted so disgusting that I knew I would never go back to them..
